Season 3, let's go! Did you guys notice that in the intro sequence, Winterfell is burning? --North of the Wall: At the Fist of the First Men, the Night's Watch that had gone north fought off the wights that we saw at the end of last season, and it appears that only a couple dozen survived (luckily for Sam, Ghost showed up and Lord Commander Mormont to help him out). ----- Further North, Jon finally gets to meet Mance Rayder and he convinces him that he really wants to join the wildlings by telling him the story about Craster sacrificing his own sons and his disgust when he found out that Mormont had known about it the whole time. You know, they always say the best/most convincing lies have an element of truth to them! --King's Landing: Bronn has been knighted by Joffrey since the battle, and now calls himself Ser Bronn of the Blackwater, and because of that says that Tyrion should pay him double his previous salary - when Tyrion said, "I don't even know what I was paying you before!" Bronn replies, "That means you can afford it." Cersei pays a visit to Tyrion in his new accomadations and is nervous about what he's going to say to Tywin at their meeting later, and I think she was suspicious that he was going to bring up something about Joffrey's true parentage to try and throw her under the bus just to try and cast himself in a better light. This hadn't even occured to Tyrion though, as we see, he was going to Tywin to discuss his inheritance. ----- As expected, the meeting between Tyrion and Tywin goes extremely poorly. Tywin is one of my favorite characters but I hate him for the way he treats Tyrion. He's not a good father to any of his children but he's pure EVIL to Tyrion. As if it was his choice to be born the way he was and for his mother to die. ----- Sansa and Shae are sitting at the shore playing an imagination game that Shae is not very good at when Littlefinger interrupts, and it seems like Sansa has reconsidered his previous proposal. Now she's more willing to trust him and get out of King's Landing, maybe because she's getting more and more scared about the situation she's in. Meanwhile, it seems Ros is still working for Littlefinger, so perhaps as a spy for Varys, and warns Shae about Littlefinger's intentions when it comes to Sansa. ----- While traveling through Fleabottom with Joffrey, Margaery unexpectedly stops and visits with some orphan children and tells the Septa that whenever they need anything (food, clothing, etc.) to come *directly* to her. That night, she and Loras have dinner with Joffrey and Cersei and discuss the events of the afternoon plus the attack that happened a couple of weeks before. Cersei can see that she and Margaery deal with the lower class in completely opposite ways and that she is quickly losing control of her son to this exciting new woman in town and she is *pissed* with a capital P. Dragonstone: After waking up somewhere in Blackwater Bay, a little burned but not too worse for the wear, Davos is rescued by Salador, finds out from him that Melisandre and Stannis are performing human sacrifices, and convinces him to take him back to Dragonstone. Stannis almost seems to be in a trance, and after being provoked, Davos attacks Melisandre and winds up being taken to the dungeons. Harrenhall: Robb's forces arrive trying to trap the Mountain and the rest of the Lannister forces that were supposed to be stationed at Harrenhall, but when they arrive they find it empty and all the prisoners murdered except one Maester named Qyburn who is still alive, and Talisa immediately sets about trying to help him. Astapor: Daenerys, Jorah, the dragons, and some seasick Dothrakis are travelling to Astapor to look at soldiers for sale called the Unsullied, and on the journey Dany and Jorah discuss whether or not it will be a good idea for her to purchase them. Once they arrive, they meet the vile man who owns the Unsullied, Kraznys, and his translator, Missandei, who has a job of work to do! Dany is still unsure about purchasing an army who are technically slaves, but Jorah tries to convince her she would be giving them a better life. While they are talking, Dany is attacked by a Warlock of Qarth disguised as a little girl and saved by Barristan Selmy, who has been looking for her ever since he was relieved of his duties by Joffrey. He begs forgiveness for letting harm come to the Targaryens, and swears fealty to her. Jorah looks unsure, but you have to remember, Barristan was technically on Robert Baratheon's small council when Jorah was sending them secret information about her, so he's not sure exactly how much he knows. We saw that Barristan never attended the meetings, but Jorah doesn't know that.

Cersei dropped what appeared to be a throwaway line when she said to Tyrion "I heard you lost your nose but it's not as gruesome as all that". In the books Tyrion DOES get his nose chopped off when he's attacked. I think the showrunners wisely didn't want Peter Dinklage to continue on without his nose for the show though :)

Joe Brown

remember that valyria was once like the roman empire, so its language has spread far and wide across essos and is still spoken despite valyria being gone for 400 years. barristan selmy is very beloved in westeros, known as barristan the bold, so having him alongside her is a reputation boost as well as having a swordsman whose skill is probably rivalled only by jaime.

The term "crow" is mainly used by the Free Folk/Wildlings as a derogatory term to refer to a man of the Night's Watch due to them dressing all in black. Consider it the same way as the British referring to the Germans as "Huns" or "Jerries" during the World Wars.

Joe Brown

the nights watchmen call the free folk "wildlings" even though they dont call themselves that so its only fair really

Tim Coates

"valar dohaeris" is Old Valyrian for "heads up! I'm about to toss human poop out the window"

TLC

Certainly not the literal translation 🤣

TLC

No spoilers but a piece of advice...go back and listen to Tywin talking to Tyrion and pay attention to what he tells him his reward will be instead of his rightful claim to Casterly Rock if he is a good boy.

DN Reacts

He said he will be rewarded with a suitable wife, I remember that being said, but didn’t think much of it at the time! Interesting

Jodycnd

I would think Ros stopped wearing Tyrion’s necklace after Cersei had her beaten when she mistook Ros for the person Tyrion loved. The lustre of a Lannister gift has dimmed.

SDSavvy

Sometimes I think Tywin feels moved to be proud of Tyrion, and that just pisses him off more since he hates him for being a dwarf. He can’t stand the thought of Tyrion finding any kind of success, admiration, or happiness.
