yes, ramsay revealed in the note that he actually didnt let the other iron born go after they handed over theon. there was no reason to spare them besides honour or mercy, neither of which ramsay cares for.

I love how Melisandre instantly becomes more interesting as a character when she requests clemency for Ser Davos. That was the moment I realized her religious fervor is genuine.

"wow! Sansa is really taking that ship sitting still pretty hard."

Damo is correct in saying that bastards in Westeros are considered illegitimate and have no legal claims to family titles or lands. Gendry is just Gendry. He's not Gendry Baratheon. He's not even Gendry Waters (Waters being the bastard name for nobles born in the crown lands), because his paternity was a secret to even himself. However, a lord may grant legitimacy to any of their bastards, (for instance if they have no surviving true born children). In the deep lore, the (first) Blackfyre Rebellion occurred because a Targaryen king long ago (Aegon IV, known as Aegon the Unworthy) legitimized his many bastards on his deathbed leading to a Targaryen civil war. Blackfyre is the name for Targaryen bastards.

It was Bran who said "my brother is in the Nights Watch" to Sam. Jojen shushed him because he didn't want Bran to give information about who they were to a stranger. I love the rabbit holes you guys go down 😂.

Yeah that was my take on it (Nick) Bran was very quick to try to give up info to someone they didn’t know 😂

Joe Brown

Blackfyre is the name of a specific line of Targaryen bastards named after Aegon the Conqueror's sword. im sure you know this but you make it sound like all Targaryen bastards would be called Blackfyre.

I don't know, I felt like Cersei was more in shock than anything else. It's been over a year since she's seen him. Not sure if she even clocked the missing hand.

Goodbye season 3! -- The Twins/Riverlands: The Red Wedding continues, as the Stark troops outside are ambushed after they have enjoyed food and wine all evening and they were all half drunk/relaxed/starting to fall asleep. The Hound is escaping with Arya and sees that they are in a dangerous situation - he grabs a Frey banner and rides out through the flames as Arya sees that the Freys have taken Robb's body and sewed his direwolf's head to it in a grotesque display. The next morning, Roose Bolton & Walder Frey talk and we find out that Edmure is locked up in a dungeon, and that the Blackfish escaped. They also talk about the events that led to this point - Roose claims that Robb never listened to his advice and that now, Bolton is Warden of the North where he feels he belongs. Meanwhile, Walder rants and raves about every single person who has ever (rightly) looked down on him and talked badly about him behind his back. You guys are right, in normal circumstances Roose would *never* entertain someone like Walder Frey. They also discuss what took place at Winterfell and we finally get confirmation that Theon's mysterious torturer is Roose's bastard son, Ramsay Snow; he is the one who killed all the Ironborn and burned Winterfell. After escaping the castle, Arya and The Hound come across some Freys talking about the betrayal and discussing in detail how they attached Greywind's head to Robb's body - Arya steals a knife from the Hound without him noticing, and stabs one of the men in the neck, forcing the Hound to take care of the others. They then ride off together after he warns her to tell him first "the next time" she does something like that. -- King's Landing: Sansa and Tyrion are actually getting along, laughing and talking about how to get revenge on people who laugh at them (and Tyrion has "a list" similar to Arya!) Shae looks a little aprehensive about this development. Tyrion is summoned to a small council meeting where he finds out what has happened at The Twins. Joffrey is absolutely overjoyed and wants to use this to torture Sansa more, but when Tyrion stands up to him he starts spiralling. Cersei tries to calm him down and Tywin tells him to go to bed, but Joffrey just gets more and more riled up and screams in Tywin's face that Robert was the one who really won the war while Tywin hid at Casterly Rock (the second time in his entire life that Joffrey has been right - Tywin is such a fraud.) Finally, Joffrey is bundled off to take a nap and Tywin lectures Tyrion about doing his duty and having a child with Sansa. Varys takes is upon himself to go to Shae and talk to her about her future - he offers her some diamonds which will afford her an opportunity to travel to a new city and start a new life. I think Varys feels a certain kinship with Shae since they are from a similar place and he also cares for Tyrion and sees how much pain both of them are in. Shae is very hurt though and misunderstands the situation, thinking Tyrion wants her to leave. Cersei and Tyrion talk more about his predicament with Sansa, and Cersei admits that while she's not technically happy, without her children she would have killed herself long ago because they are her greatess happiness. We finally see Jaime, Brienne, and Qyburn arrive back in King's Landing. When Jaime goes to see Cersei, we see her in her room looking at a seashell and smiling - this is a shell from the beaches of Dorne that Myrcella sent her. When Jaime arrives, I think Cersei is just so shocked to see him (and see the state that he's in) that we can't infer too much from her reaction yet. -- The Wall: At the Nightfort, Bran and company are settling down for the night. Bran tells the story of 'The Rat Cook' which describes how someone became cursed because he betrayed someone who he had invited into his home for a meal, mirroring what Walder Frey has just done. Sam and Gilly then surprise the group, and Sam figures out who Bran is after he sees Summer and Hodor. Despite Sam's objections, Bran insists that he *must* go North, so finally Sam helps him find a way, and just before they part ways he gives Bran and Meera some Dragonglass and explains what it does. Sam and Gilly then make their way back to Castle Black and tell Maester Aemon all the events that have happened since they left - between Jon and Qhorin Halfhand disappearing and never coming back, the huge army of wights and White Walkers, the mutiny that took place at Craster's Keep, and Lord Commander Mormont being murdered. We find out that Gilly is naming her baby after Sam, and Aemon says that they can stay at Castle Black. He then tells Sam they have to send every single raven they have to tell as many people as possible about the army of the dead that's marching on the Wall. Meanwhile, Jon is making his way to Castle Black as well when Ygritte catches up with him - he admits to her that he really does love her, but he truly is a man of the Night's Watch and has to return there. She feels betrayed and shoots him with three arrows. He manages to make his way back to the Wall (or at least his horse does) and he sees Pyp and Sam as he gets dragged inside. -- Dreadfort: Ramsay taunts Theon some more ("Pork sausage!") until Theon begs for him to kill him - he had completely been broken and given up. Ramsay says he's still valuable though, and gives him a new name since he's not Theon Greyjoy anymore - "Reek." -- Iron Islands: Balon and Yara receive a letter and "package" (no pun intended) from Ramsay telling them what has happened and to stay out of the North. Balon gives up on Theon, but Yara is determined to get him back and takes off with their fastest ship and some of their best killers on a rescue mission. -- Dragonstone: Davos visits Gendry in the dungeons and tells him he also is lowborn, also from Fleabottom. To me, it seems like Gendry reminds Davos of his son back before he became radicalized by religion. He's just a normal, nice young man who didn't ask to get wrapped up in any of this. As Stannis's reinstated Hand, Davos is screening his letters and continuing to practice his reading when he receives Maester Aemon's message. Before he can fnish, he hears bells ringing and goes to see Stannis - he and Melisandre tell him that Robb Stark is dead. They believe that this is due to Melisandre's blood magic. Davos fears for Gendry's life and decides to set him free, giving him a boat, some food, and a bearing for King's Landing. When they learn what Davos has done, Stannis and Melisandre are so angry, Stannis sentences him to death. Davos pulls out the letter from the Night's Watch and piques Stannis's curiosity though. After seeing a vision in the flames of a "great battle in the snow" and that Stannis will need Davos's help, Melisandre spares his life. -- Yunkai: Daenerys waxes poetic about the difference between conquering and liberating and the fact that slaves eventually learn to love their chains while she stands outside the walls of Yunkai waiting for the former slaves to come to her. Eventually, they do and she tells them that she can't give them their freedom - they have to do that for themselves. They cry out "Mhysa" which Missandei tells us means "mother" and Daenerys walks out into the crowd of adoring people as her dragons fly overhead.

I like how Damo missed the entire scene of Sansa crying by the window lol
