This feels like you are going to see a story about a decent man fighting against going bad and loosing. Then you end up seeing a story of a bad guy fighting against going good and winning.

Loved this reaction!!! The only criticism I have of the film is that it unfortunately lacks Snow’s internal monologue in the books where you can see how controlling and possessive he is of Lucy Gray. It’s not love, it’s control and in his mind she belongs to him, as Damo picked up on. I’m not sure if you caught it but Snow’s final line delivered by Donald Sutherland is what Snow said to Katniss in Mockingjay Part 1 in reference to Peeta being made to destroy her. The actress who plays Lucy Gray (Rachel Zelger) has been starring as Evita on stage recently and also played Maria in the remake of West Side Story a few years ago. I’m looking forward to Sunrise on the Reaping out in November as the book is brilliant and the cast for the film is awesome. 🤩

Oh yay! I stayed so stupid late to see your reaction to this! I was a big fan of the trilogy (I as reader of the books first, I think trilogy still stands since they had to split the third book into two movies, point to Nick on this one me thinks), and was SO excited to see this movie in theaters. Obviously we all have the trailer benefits of knowing it was going to be about Snow and I remember going "ha, go on, try to make me like him". Half way through the movie my sister leans over to me and goes "fucking hell ... I kinda of like him, I'm going to be so mad at him before this is through aren't I!" ... "yup 😶". 😂😂😂 I think they did a great job at making us sympathetic towards Snow and his plight, you kind of want to root for him. But truthfully he's very selfish all the way through, it's ALL to benefit him ALWAYS. Even running off with Lucy at the very end was not his first game plan, it was the backup plan. As you said, it was an odd sort of pairing of two very guarded people who just couldn't trust each other in the end. And for good reason. That scene in the cabin was SCARY and intense (and quite well performed considering there's no benefit of their inner dialogue to rely on). You could see that look of "oh cool, this solves everything" when he sees the guns without really thinking about Lucy until he see her, she sees him, and the thought crosses both their minds. She's the last loose end. And yeah she was nopeing it the fuck out of there quick smart (rightfully so). "I ain't made of sugar" was just a fabulous line delivery imo. My main thought walking out of the theatre was that this all just deepens everything about Snow's appearances later. Can you imagine the HATE that he would have felt hearing the hanging tree song, from another defiant strong charming young woman from D12. Ooof. What a sucker punch Katniss delivered without knowing it. Lucy-Gray coming back to haunt you during your down fall *chefs kiss*. I would even recommend re-watching the Katniss and Snow's scenes (it's only 20mins all up; I'll put a link below if anyone is interested). It's just a lovely gain on the insight into what he might have thinking when talking to/seeing Katniss and everything she represents. It's all very Lucy-Gray coded. You get a good idea of what Snow felt his relationship with Lucy really was (to him) so many years later. He does not look back on it too fondly. Btw, I believe after Lucy called the Katniss-plant a swamp potato she also called it 'a defiant pretty thing'. 💜💜💜💜 Absolutely loved this one guys, thank you!

That is the actress singing (Rachel Zegler). You guys should react to her in the remake of West Side Story. She has an insane voice
