are you interested in watching any fan-made lore videos? i can recommend some very well-made ones if you'd like (and check for spoilers of course)

DN Reacts

We wouldn’t be able to react to them but I’d be interested to watch them in my own time. Being spoiler free of course 😊

Are you guys thinking of reacting to House of the Dragon when you're finished GoT? If so you might need to ask someone to scan the lore videos for spoilers going forwards.

the GOT theyve watched thus far has already had *major* explicit spoilers about HOTD major character deaths that havent happened yet in the amount of HOTD that is out atm, and this will happen again in GOT later on too. it sucks but it is what it is. nothing you can do about it unless you wait for HOTD to finish (multiple years from now) and then watch it before watching GOT. the sad reality is that GOT spoils HOTD unless you dont pay attention/forget these moments in GOT.

I am so glad you guys do this. There is so much good information in these videos. I know sometimes it can be a lot of names and facts, but even if you remember just a few of either, they can be super helpful. You were wondering, so with regards to the valyrian steel dagger that was used to try to kill Bran, Damo was right, Littlefinger told Catelyn that he lost it in a bet to Tyrion Lannister - more than likely to further stir the conflict between the Starks and the Lannisters - Littlefinger said he lost it when he bet that Jaime will win a joust against the Knight of Flowers, and Tyrion bet against him - if you think about it, will Tyrion EVER bet AGAINST his brother??? In any case, the dagger's provenance, and who tried to kill Bran has not been explained in the show. I guess they decided to leave it a mystery, or let us think it was either Cersei or Jaime that hired the cutthroat (?) In the books though, it turns out to be Joffrey - spoiled sh*t that he was - out of spite, he wanted revenge on Bran for embarrassing his brother (Tommen) when they "play fought with wooden swords" while they were all visiting Winterfell. He found the dagger in one of his father's chests and gave it to the hired cutthroat. Didn't even realized the dagger was valyrian steel.

there is a prominent fan theory (at least among book fans, since the books havent finished and could still confirm this) that Oberyn poisoned Tywin and that is why he was so constipated. in the books i believe its made clear that the two of them had breakfast together the morning of Tyrion's trial i think (or the morning of the fight? not sure).

Lord Greatjon Umber of Last Hearth was fiercly loyal to Robb (being the first to name him King in the North) but he was killed at the Red Wedding offscreen.

Westeros (and beyond!) has some incredibly rich history and lore! House of the Dragon is also a really great dive into an earlier point in Westeros history, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is an upcoming mini series as well :)

Tormund is not exactly a reliable narrator of his own deeds, haha. Remember when Ygritte called him out about the story he was telling about having intercourse with a bear? Yeah, I'd take everything Tormund says with a hefty grain of salt. I think we're meant to infer that it was Littlefinger who ordered the attempt on Bran's life. Not because he had anything against Bran but as part of his attempt to put the Lannisters and Starks at each others' throats. In the books, there's a different potential culprit that is strongly implied but the show seems to have skipped mentioning it.

you have to remember that previous targaryen dragonriders knew how to "train" and control them whereas dany is just winging it and hoping they'll obey just because of how they were born and brought up by her. also, none of the past targaryen dragonlords had multiple dragons. even aegon the conquerer would not dare to try to mount one of his sisters' dragons.

With Stannis something you may have forgotten from the end of Season 3 was he got the letter from the Night's Watch about White Walkers and the undead marching south towards the wall, calling for aid. He ended up helping stop the Wildlings but that wasn't what all those letters sent by Maester Aemon were about. Melisandre looked into the flames when she threw the letter in and said the War of the Five Kings means nothing, the true war lies to the north. She tells Stannis that only he can stop it, which lines up with how she has been telling Stannis and her followers that he is the prince that was promised who will drive away the darkness since she came on the show. She also tells him that he needs Davos, which stops Davos from being punished(excecuted?) for freeing Gendry. That leads to Davos setting him up with the Iron Bank to fund their army going north to the Wall in response to the call for aid. TDLR: It is unclear exactly how much Stannis buys in to everything Melisandre says but after he had a vision in the flames at the end of the 2nd season and has seen her blood magic cause 3 kings to die in the 3rd/4th, he seems to be pretty on board the Lord of Light train. He took his army north to help the Night's Watch in response to their letter and being encouraged to act on it by Melisandre who has immense influence over him.
