R-S Chapter 09 (Patreon)

I looked around in a slight panic as I was a few steps out of my door. Was it all real? It must have been, it was too realistic to be an illusion and too long to be a drug trip, plus I’d never done drugs in my entire life. I moved towards the town in a daze as I thought about what this meant. I didn’t think we could fight the demon lord even as a nation without extreme casualties.
The give everything for your country attitude was gone and most of us would just flee the nation and leave it for him to rule, but we were unfortunately completely surrounded by enemies. The casualties of us needing to leave the nation for another would be tremendous and weaken the forces that could possibly stop whatever plans the demon lord had. No one outside the nation would consider him a threat until he was invading their lands.
By the time we did finally unite under one banner to face him the entire population would have been culled significantly. Keeping the demon king sealed was an imperative for the nation, the main question now was… Did they do it on purpose? Did they release the demon lord on purpose or was it just an accident from the high-ranking nobles and kings faction fighting over the building that caused the sealed demon lord to escape?
Also, why was I chosen? There had to be a reason right? He wouldn’t just pick a random person, did it have something to do with my enduran blood? That is the most likely reason I could think of. I wasn’t a strong combatant, otherwise, he’d send back the principal or someone else. My growth potential was fairly high but not the best, many other students could have been brought back with better results as they were from noble families so more believable if they asked for help.
I couldn’t figure it out so I started to write a mental list of what I needed to accomplish. I needed to figure out why the group was attacking the school, if they were there to free the demon king on purpose, or if it was a fluke by the noble faction. I needed to learn all the steps they did in order to be able to invade the school in the first place, it should have been impossible as the barrier that was taken down would have stopped the high-ranking magic from being used by anyone but the people recognized by the barrier.
So the barrier collapsing at the beginning of the school semester was because of the enemy. As I was thinking I was tackled from behind. I was a dozen steps closer than the first time he tackled me but that was because I was walking slower while thinking. He managed to catch me before I rounded the bend to the city, the only difference it made was he didn’t have to run up the hill to slam into me.
“Good lords Ovar. How wrapped up in your thoughts are you to not hear me running full speed towards you? I was practically shouting by the time I reached you!” I was about to kick him but remembered that he was prepared for it. I feinted like I was going to do that until he raised his leg then I sweeped out his other foot from underneath him. We looked at each other in surprise as he won most of our fights.
With a huge smile on my face, I tried to remember what I said. “Your parents picked out the best name for you. You fight like a Brute.” As I gave him a hand to help him up he pulled me to the ground before responding. “I’d say the same for your parents but what the hells is an Ovar?” I was curious how closely I could keep what we talked about but as we made our way to town the entire conversation shifted to something different than we talked about the first time.
As we made our way into the city, the topic of the girls came up again. “You see that new orc bartender at the adventurer’s guild? She has the biggest pair of melons I’ve ever seen! Makes me think being an adventurer might be worth it if I can stare at those all day.” My brain was trying to remember what I said but it was about cute girls so I just had to say which girl I thought was cute.
“I like Rasker, she’s got that strength along with the sexiness. Small enough to toss around in the bedroom too.” Brutus laughed before mentioning it. “Well… I mean we’re passing right past the pleasure district. How about?” I cut him off. “We should get our testing done… Then maybe the pleasure district after if I can become a mage.”
He looked at me confused before saying. “Who are you and what have you done with Ovar!?” I push him but his beefy body barely moves even with how much effort I put into pushing against him. We kept making jokes, he was in a much better mood because of the promise of going to the pleasure district with me later. I was pretty sure but not positive he was a virgin… At least until we went to school. His big body and the stares the other students gave him led me to believe he had been in paradise since we started school.
We head inside and get scanned, the long process it took before happened as well as I looked at the small changes to my status.
Mana Capacity- 73
Magic Fluctuations- Moderate
Mental Control- Minimal
Mana veins- Small, thin, 30.33% effective
Magical affinities- Fire 15.01%, Water 03.01%, Air 30.02%, Lightning -15.01%, Earth 45.04% @#^*(!) 99%
What the hell was that last one? Was that the time magic inside my body? That would make the most sense, it allowed me to track how many chances I had to go back before time ran out for me. The maximum amount of time I could take to finish this was 300 months. 297 now. I also remember I had the energy inside my body before the first time I went back. How was that possible? Maybe the time magic was piggybacking off on whatever that affinity was.
The tiefling receptionist looked at me as I smiled before she asked. “What is that affinity at the end?” I gave her my best guess. “Probably an affinity the orb can’t detect. I know the energy is there but doesn’t have a name to put to the affinity.” I was still too innocent to notice the sense of awe in her voice at the high unknown affinity. As I walked out she bit her lip, regretting missing her chance to be with someone who could become powerful in the future.
Me and Brutus meet up outside as I grab one of the skewers of meat he had. He asked. “How’d it go?” I ate as I spoke. “Seventy-three, I can be a mage but it’s low. It still deserves celebration though. Let’s go to the pleasure district.” We made our way there and the entire area was loaded with bars, hotels, drug dens, gambling, and criminal establishments.
As long as we didn’t make our way into any back areas, we wouldn’t be mugged and I had most of my money hidden in a pouch around my chest instead of anywhere someone could easily get to it. We picked the brothel that looked to be in the middle of the price range and went inside. The sight of all the women dressed in practically nothing as they danced, trying to gain the attention of potential customers had me growing hard at the sight. It was hard not to smile like a kid in a candy shop.
