RiaN Chapter 11 (Patreon)

I walked forward towards the machine. It was designed by Orochi and could test many things about the ninja. Chakra capacity, if there are any blockages in your chakra pathways, chakra point strength, elemental affinities, and muscle density. This was only the first part of the test, and it drew blood for the test. Afterward, we were tested on how skilled we were already, and that would determine where we were placed.
I found out that me and Naruto would never be in the same class, it sucked but there was nothing I could do about it. He would take his place in the clan heir class, which would have a more focused teaching process; fewer students meant more time from the teacher for every student. Thankfully, I was from a rich clan. As long as I performed well, I could join the elite class.
Most civilians, or at least the ones who weren’t sponsored by Orochi or someone else, would only learn at the school until they turned twelve and became genin, while all the clan heirs and elites would continue to learn at the school all the way up until they were eighteen and became chunin automatically with no tests done. There was something similar to the chunin exams in this world, but it was for jonin instead, which proved you were the true elites of the village.
I passed the tests with flying colors. Extremely high chakra capacity, no chakra pathway blockages, and someone noticed my pathways were already strengthened, showing I had begun cycling already. The same went for my strengthened tenketsu points. I had three. Water, earth, and fire which was on the rare side. Having three attributes was something only one out of every ten thousand shinobi had, and their connections were normally far weaker than mine. I think my fire chakra affinity was strengthened by the tailed beast chakra in my body.
Muscle density didn’t make much of a difference; I still scored above most, but not in the Might category; they had their separate ranking for that. I scored just below the scribbled on ‘Might’ on the tester. It meant that even starting out, the Might family had grown to be untouchable when it came to pure strength. It felt like all they needed was a chance, and once they got it, they flourished.
There was no eternal genin, Might Dai(Duy) was heavily respected in this universe as he should be. Taijutsu specialists got a bad rap in the show, and dollars for donuts it was just pound for pound more impactful in most situations than ninjutsu or genjutsu. Even Madara knew how great taijutsu is when he declared that Guy was the strongest of them all. That fucker almost beat an infinitely regenerating super zombie.
Arguably the best fight in the entire series and where it should have ended. They should have kept Kaguya to Boruto and had Madara as the endgame big bad. We were taken to the side and tested on our knowledge of ninja subjects. I didn’t do too well, but I knew enough to score above average in my mind.
The next part was a taijutsu battle between a random other person, ranged weaponry usage, and showing the strongest jutsu you can currently use(if you can use any). The test had taken about an hour, but this part would only take a few minutes for each part. There were hundreds, if not thousands of kids being tested, but less than half would have the ability to become ninjas. I had already noticed the crowds had diminished compared to before from the children who had a problem when they got tested originally.
Taijutsu was easy. Unless I got unlucky and was paired against someone from the Might clan, I was just far stronger than anyone else fighting. Even then, the fight between me and Might Lee would probably be close if he had the same level of weakness he did at the start of his journey. He didn’t really get strong until after he graduated.
The kid I was paired against was a normal civilian, he stood still after the fight started and didn’t even move until I knocked him down. Thank god I held back; otherwise, I might have legitimately hurt him. The weapons testing was just shurikens. I could choose what type of weapon I could use between shurikens, a bow, or even a gun! Why was gun one of the choices? I knew that there were gunman squads, but ninjas were so fast, and gunpowder was so expensive, that they weren’t used regularly.
I picked gun and noticed there wasn’t a scope or even sights. It resembled a musket more than anything advanced, which made me question if Orochi really was a reincarnator. If he was, he might be from the eighteen hundreds or something, when muskets were more common. The world was both more advanced than normal Naruto, but since guns weren’t the end all be all, they had far less work done to make them better compared to our world.
Firing it didn’t need to be accurate. It was closer to a shotgun than anything with any real range. I obliterated a target, and that was considered good enough. (A reminder to everyone that I am six and just fired a musket.) Moving onto the final test, I wasn’t sure which jutsu to use. I got access to the Uzumaki clan scroll and learned several D-rank jutsu. I move up and perform the body flicker technique.
It wasn’t an Uzumaki specialty, but it was going to be a bread-and-butter jutsu of mine going forward. I could already use it with a single seal, and by the time I graduate, I want to get it so it is effortless like Shisui. I hadn’t learned the shadow clone jutsu yet, my father thought it might be too much for me right off the bat. Even though I had never gotten into trouble, he still thought I was too young to have two of me walking around at once.
With that done, I passed. School didn’t start for a week but if I waited until the end of the day, I could see where I placed. I waited for the results and saw that both Sasuke and Sakura had scored the best on the written test and the jutsu test. It meant that they would be moved to the clan heir class, even though they weren’t heirs.
Even now, it felt like someone was pulling the strings from behind the scenes. In no way should they be in the same class as Naruto in this world, but somehow, they were. I scored above average in everything with my high chakra all but guaranteeing me a spot in the elite class. Even if I didn’t score high now, my father would have me in those classes until I had shown no talent for being a ninja.
Classes didn’t start for a few days, so I just waited for them to start. As excited and anxious as I was, I knew that I was going to be bored for most classes. Not only was this a school to learn how to be a ninja, but it also taught the children how to read and write, along with other things most schools would teach. I knew how to read, I knew how to do math probably better than the people teaching the subject.
History was the only class where I wouldn’t already be far ahead of everyone else. I had done my own research, but besides a surface-level scan of what happened in this village, I hadn’t learned much else. Classes started, and I couldn’t wait to meet my new classmates. The world still felt new, it didn’t feel real even though I had lived through it for six years already.
