Two more tips 1) Try to either use a consistent wire colour or pick the brightest colour for voltage. Very easy to fry these sensors by sending voltage down the wrong pin 2) Yaml is very sensitive to indents and very bad at telling you where the real problem is. If you get weird errors check all the indents

Great tip on the brightest - I always learnt the wire colours diligently, then did a degree in electronics engineering which made me lazy....! ;) Great point on yaml - it's a silly coding language really, who on earth decided indents vs semicolons or property line marking - hopeless, but I should have mentioned that as a tip at the end! (although I might have had more tips than video!)

Yaml is easily the most frustrating part of esphome But yes it would be very easy to have a full video of tips (ie things I've screwed up)

Excellent video! Just a heads-up: I noticed that in one of the frames, your ESP32 chip password was visible. While it's currently restricted to local network updates only, it's a good precautionary measure to update the password for added security.

Dammit!! I thought I'd blanked all of them!! As you say they're all completely local and these were actually just test devices, so all will be erased anyway, but I was trying to out of good practice! A secrets file approach would have also been sensible ..!
