"I'm not on your level" If I might: big fat X

Best girl shizuka has arrived

Aira

And now the most precious character arrives. Shizuka is such a sweetheart.

Yes! This was the episode where I started to really pay attention to the show. The show would have been funny enough, though forgettable, if it had just been degenerate and wacky. But the way it somehow manages to also be really sweet makes it something special in my eyes.

BEST GIRLLLLLLLLL

Hoppykwins

Im so ready for you to realise this show is actually, despite being an unhinged parody, surprisingly deep. None of the girls ever end up feeling more or less important than others and its so impressive to me.

The degen life didn't choose Cara, Cara chose the degen life.

Kitty the blacksmith

Told you! There's a lot of wholesomeness in the show too

Mini Komi has entered the chat. Errg, that's another one they need to watch.

Eli Gamarra

This series is great because there is absolutely no way to expect what will happen next. The only guarantee is that by the end, he will have 100 Girlfriends

Eli Gamarra

You'll be surprised to hear that with the current 30 or 40-something girlfriends, he still gives each of them the same amount of love and attention and still manages to spend quality time with them. This series gonna have as many chapters as One Piece by the time it's done

rentarou making boyfriends across the world look terrible compared to him

Giant_Killer33

lol I love the way u open ur vods with its great

Enson

People hate harems because it’s always some loser, but Rentarou deserves every bit of love he receives.

Coolyo8901

MY GOAT RENTAROU proving why he is the greatest boyfriend to exist. The way this show balances wholesomeness and degeneracy is why it’s so amazing

A new name to add to the list: Yoshimoto Shizuka (好本 静): They show how to write her name in the episode, which makes it a lot easier for me. The short explanation is: Yoshimoto is made of two characters, “Love” and “book”, and Shizuka is the basic reading for the character “Silence” (or quiet). By the time we hear her name we’ve already been introduced to what her character is, so anyone who’s studied Japanese would see her name and immediately think, “Ah, of course that’s what they called her! What else would her name be?” But, of course, there’s a little more to it. The character used for love here is different from the two characters used in Rentaro’s name, it actually is the character for “preference” and is often used to mean “like”. Despite not =exactly= meaning “love” (I think the closest English analogue would actually be “fond”), it is actually the character most commonly used when communicating love, being the character used in the word “suki”. (I just deleted a 3-paragraph explanation of why “suki” both means love and doesn’t mean love at the same time, because it was as boring as it was unimportant.) Yoshimoto Shizuka is actually a great name, because while all the names in the show all sound “name-adjacent”, they are a little like the names you’d come across in a Dickens novel (like Ms. Blimber or the Chuzzlewit family). However, “Yoshimoto Shizuka” sounds completely natural in Japan today. I can’t imagine anyone actually being as cruel as naming their daughter “Hakari”, and if someone introduced themselves as “Inda” I would assume that their family immigrated from abroad and “Japan-ified” their name (like “d’Urberville” to “Durbeyfield”, for your second Victorian literature reference in one comment). But if someone came up to me with the name “Yoshimoto Shizuka” I wouldn’t even bat an eye. “Moto” is a common ending in surnames (toponymic surnames, to be technical), and “Yoshi” is also really common in surnames (but written differently). “Shizuka” is also a good girl’s name (three syllables ending in “ka” being a popular pattern for girls’ names). Extra trivia: In the audio drama that came before the TV anime, Shizuka was voiced by Iwami Manaka (A 3-syllable girls name ending in “ka”), who is also the voice for Mahiru in Angel Next Door. But she was replaced by Naganawa Maria for this adaptation, who is a much bigger name, and the actress every studio fights over getting whenever they need to give their petite loli character a cute voice.

Protect her dear heart, always... 😍 And Protect the butt-mole as well...

I would take a bullet for Shizuka

[11:45] Man,she doesn't even dare laugh out loud. Shizuka must be protected at all cost ;_; And it's kind of in:credible how she remembers where every line/words is. That's not just from repeated reading. [18:28] Also, can we give some credit to Rentaro for being a chad? He doesn't even do that to get into a girls heart. He genuinely wants to be there for them. [21:18] I love how how after every episode you'll notice how much she's down the deep end. At first you (and I too) thought she was the cute, bubbly, maybe even shy pink one. But she...well... let's say Shizuka with her wholesomeness offsets her well 😂 [21:38] When the massive Tsundere is the actual most down to earth and normal person in the harem, you know something's up🤣
