Should really befriend or at least make a good impression on protagonists before drama starts. Could have supported the underdog protagonist when it was known his engagement was broken off, or compare notes or offer optimization to the heavenly talented protagonist. The latter could have a been a great source of free valuable information.

I hope that if our protagonist doesn’t practice alchemy himself, because it would definitely be fitting, becomes more sociable once an alchemist protagonist appears and needs initial investments funds or herbs.

Alchemist transmutation master in making. World manipulation is very interesting. Just do not break the scaling laws. If you barely manipulate few branches and grass, do not jump to forests. I can see him expertly manipulating few vines in future. Forest vs sword will break scaling.
