I think while it’s a sound idea, he’s being arrogant, he should have at least talked to the father before he ventured off to enemy territory. I feel like it’s because a lack of consequences with regards to this realm

Vincent Mason

Probably replace the Elder he killed and tempt them with more secrets.

Kynan

Talk to the father about? This is the first world where Ke Yin is the "big fish". In the cultivation world, he is at the bottom of the power rankings. As for the Two Sun's world, he's worried about a high ranking Skybound/Lightweaver experimenting on his soul. The arrogance he's showing is more of a bluff than anything else. We'll see in a later chapter his thought process and reasoning, if I wrote it in this chapter, it would ruin the suspense

Zeteri

Poor Han's questions are just constantly sidelined... On another note, I wonder if this life realm cultivator seemingly dying recently has something to do with when the author mentioned that the Azure Sect seemed to be preparing for a big event. Stricter initiate requirements, changing resource allocation, I believe there were more hushed meetings speculated as well. Though it's been long enough my memory is foggy.

Druid

The thing is, we don't know anything about Ke Yin's plan, other than he's going to the sect.

I think he will fly there and brazenly bluff.:) Now let's talk about creating life in an inner world. If it were me, I'd do my best to make something more like fairy - eternal from the start and, most importantly, completely unlike humans in thought and behavior. I'd strip away the psychological and biochemical loops that lead to jealousy, greed, malice, and similar flaws. That doesn’t mean they wouldn't understand those concepts - they'd still be sapient - but they wouldn't feel them. Of course, I wouldn't want them to be pushovers either, so I'd add a touch of the demonic - make them genuinely enjoy fighting, not out of cruelty or sadism, but simply because it's fun. To prevent stagnation without greed, I'd enhance their curiosity and creativity. And for good measure, I'd throw in a bit of that fae love for intricate, convoluted pranks so they're not easily fooled... You get the idea. Pulling it off would probably require some insane bio-spiritual expertise, but no creating sapient beings until I'm sure I can handle it at least somewhat. And one thing’s for sure - there’s no way in hell I’d allow any disgusting humans in my inner world. :)

Assuage the father and sister’s worry if they discover him missing? I’m not thinking permission so much as basic decency. But it kinda fits with Ke Yin’s mono focus on combat and lack of memories around familial bonds. I’m just hoping there are (emotional) consequences if he comes back the next morning further bloodied to his body’s family low key freaking out.

Kynan

That makes sense. You're right, that is one of the reasons why he didn't think to tell them (though that reason he wouldn't realize since he does it subconsciously). The reason Ke Yin left through the window was because he didn't want to disturb the family or worry them by going out in the night, the "plan" that he has should be completed before the sun rises. I think I'll rewrite the ending to have Han Renyi ask Ke Yin why he's going through a window instead of the main entrance like a normal person. Thanks both of you!

Adleiavde

TBF, even if they were to notice him missing, they might just suppsoe he's meeting with his 'master'. It kinda makes sense to go visit him after a life-or-death battle to get advice on his battle.

TheCommensuratePup

I just wonder what power, gift, companion, or treasure he'll get from this realm

Matthias Rudolph

I think He will try to join the sect. He gains Access to new knowledge and the sect wount retaliate against the Family. By defeating an elder He has shown His worth to the sect, what better Applikation?

Brian P.

That seems like it’d fly in the face of his Hidden Master excuse, though. My guess is he’ll use his planets to fly, intimidating them.

Grappleshot

Make sense for a world tree thing. Could add elves cuz why not, then the whole fantasy package plus humans. Could even add in a system. Also what's a fairy eternal?

Grappleshot

This is how secret realms are born. A secret realm opening up is it gathering more Qi, and possibly assistance in helping stabilize things. The introduction of a high tier cultivator could explode it, which is why we have to send in weaker disciples.

Zeteri

Could be as simple as gaining insights into how another's life realm world world, this potentially helping him make the breakthrough of life in his own world.

Except without jealousy and greed, they would have no drive to improve. Jealousy and greed are side effects of the desire for a better life, which is what drives us to invent things to improve the world for ourselves and our tribe. Malice is a side effect of our survival instincts and our love for others around us and ourselves. To remove that would make creatures that lack empathy or lack the desire to protect themselves or their family. So all in all you’d either have stagnated creatures who never seek anything better because they don’t care about themselves or others, or you’d have creatures that never improved and would just allow themselves to be eaten by other creatures. If you want something inhuman that doesn’t show those kind of negative traits, you could instead give them more hive or communal focused instincts that prioritize the race, possibly with a lessened ability to see anything outside themselves as sapient, kinda like the Florans from Starbound who have trouble understanding that meat based creatures are sapient.

TheCommensuratePup

Yeah but also kinda lame, I love the idea of our MC going from world to world stealing their powers, insights and special creatures.

Trent Cannon

I think if I was creating life in my inner world, I’d try to create life that can live and take advantage of places that nothing else could. Creatures that lived in fire or magma, creatures that flew through space eating cosmic radiation to form miniature environments inside themselves, creatures that symbiotically attached to others and provide vital materials in dangerous environments for qi. Unless I can only make one, then I’d go for the radiation eating space jellyfish that makes a livable environment inside itself, something like a man o war in appearance

AjiTae

Read the whole comment, i wrote of an obvious counterweights for this issues. And no, empathy has nothing to do with any of it, it is a strictly biological feature.

LateNighter681

Ke yin is most likely going to try to trade his formation for gathering energy for peace that would make sense to me what's more precious then more energy in a world that's losing thiers

Trent Cannon

I did read all of it, enhancing curiosity and creativity isn’t gonna cause them to start inventing things, they’ll still be basically cavemen with no desire to improve. At best they may make art, but with no greed they would have no desire to improve their lives beyond surviving. Octopi are also extremely curious and creative, and they almost never create tools because they have no social structure or connection to other octopi and thus no need. As for the second part, I’m not sure what you’re saying? Are you saying that empathy is strictly biological and thus would have no effect on greed, jealousy, and malice, or are you saying that those are strictly biological and thus removing them would have no affect on empathy? Because they’re both equally biological, and almost completely intertwined. The only creatures that don’t have most of those flaws are hive insects, and they don’t have empathy either. Caring about other people or animals just comes with caring about yourself, and the less a species cares about losing their individual life the less they care about others losing their lives. You don’t see ants or bees taking care of crippled ants or bees, yet evidence has been found of early cavemen taking care of a crippled one from birth long enough that they lived to 30, despite being paralyzed.

AjiTae

Your interpretation is just as baseless as mine. References to non-sapient species prove nothing. I also find the idea that only the human mind structure is valid and functional highly improbable and disgustingly anthropocentric. I wouldn’t make any declarations without extensive proper experimentation.:)

Tom C

I reckon he will rock up, take control of all the plant life with qi and show his dominance, make the sect his own. TFTC!
