My guess is that she's a moderately powerful Lightweaver, and if the trope continues, will begin his journey in Lightweaving before killed by a confident evil Skybound who leaves Ke Yin alive, since he's too week to matter. Ke Yin is driven by revenge to go on a great quest where he gains the power and experience to strike down the evil Skybound. Alternatively, she's a princess and the guard is her world-weary companion sworn to her service. Though he doesn't trust Ke Yin, he can't help but acquiesce to his lady's desires. He doesn't have any magical powers, but he is extremely well trained.

What I’m expecting is someone at least related to a very important light weaver that Ke yin is going to end up saving by “discovering” that he has a ability to naturally use blue sun energy during this upcoming ambush

I think it unlikely that a Skybound would leave Ke Yin alive if such a situation were to occur. They're too paranoid to leave such a loose end behind.
