He's an outsider in his own body psychologically it makes sense for him to be subconsciously detached. He went from a normal world to a world of tropes he can recognize the cognitive dissonance must be effecting him something awful. It's amazing he isn't treating it like a game or falling to serious mental issues.

I guess that is also what that 'collector' guy feels in a sense. Wouldn't be weird to start acting like you're the only 'real' person and treat everyone as NPC in his or MC's case
