My theory is that Wu’s life is not in a good position so when he could experience another life and be someone else he took it. Just look at how he described himself and ke yin from his dream, ke yin: the black haired one, Wu kangming: the sad one. Dudes got depression.

Main reason for the guess that Hou was Ke Yin was just that Tian’s birth was oddly ‘isekai’ and Hou’s was oddly similar to Wu Kangming. And that was too obvious so it must be reversed lol almost thought you pulled a fast one though
