I think dream world is dying like Rouqi world, but slower because of the dream walkers ability. Lotus’s are always a symbol of purity and healing. Considering the creator of this place went mad, I think he brought back a form of sun energy corruption. This Lotus is holding that corruption at bay, purifying it. Taking the lotus may doom the realm, and I expect the spirt is the realm spirit and will offer him a lotus seed, which could act in tandem with the realm stabilizing as a corruption purifying lotus.
