Floor 74 was supposed to be a dead zone (abandoned castles, endless storms, no boss in sight). Asuna Yuuki came anyway. Not for loot. Not for glory. Just to feel something real.
She left the Knights of the Blood behind at dawn, trading heavy plate for the stripped-down version of her battle gear: white crop-top soaked translucent by the rain, red pleated skirt plastered to her thighs, thigh-high stockings slick with mud and lightning glow. The rapier stayed sheathed. Tonight, she wasn’t the Vice-Commander. She was just Asuna.
The storm found her first.
She knelt on the shattered parapet, rain streaming down her back, hair braided tight but unraveling in the wind. Lightning cracked overhead, painting her skin electric blue. That’s when he appeared: a solo player she’d only seen in passing, black cloak, dual blades, eyes like the storm itself.
He didn’t speak. Just stepped into the downpour, water cascading off his shoulders, and offered a hand.
Asuna took it.
They moved without words: her back against the stone wall, his hands sliding under the wet fabric, thumbs tracing the curve of her hips. The skirt rode up with every roll of thunder. She bit his lip when he lifted her, legs locking around his waist, rain mixing with sweat and something hotter.
They didn’t make it inside.
Lightning flashed as she sank to her knees in the mud, fingers fumbling with his belt, mouth hot against cold skin. He groaned her name like a prayer when she took him deep, rain dripping from her lashes. When she stood, he spun her, pressed her front to the wall, and drove into her from behind (hard, relentless, perfectly timed with every thunderclap).
They came together when the sky split open: her cry lost in the roar, his hands bruising her hips, both of them trembling as the storm raged on.
Later, wrapped in his cloak on the castle steps, Asuna traced the scar on his jaw and smiled.
“Next floor?” she whispered.
He kissed the rain from her neck.
“Next storm.”
Some battles aren’t fought with swords.
Some are won in the dark, where lightning meets lightning.
