Ah shit, here we go again 😂

Now that the widebody survived a drift event, it’s time to finish it up and paint the truck. It’s going to be a LOT of work because this truck is rough. Lots of dents, dings, waves, and bad paint.

The finished result isn’t going to be perfect either. I’m going for “decent”. At the end of the day this is a drift vehicle and it’ll probably get banged up at some point in its life. Just having it one color, even if the bodywork isn’t perfect, is still going to look so awesome.

So first up was welding the widebody more and grinding it down. I chose not to weld the seams 100% because I thought it was unnecessary. I ended up doing a tack about every 10mm.

Next up is all the body work. I’m going to start with the widebody since it’s all bare metal. The sooner I can get it primed, the sooner I can drive it without worrying about rain lol.

Also: what do you think about adding some vents in the tailgate? I think this will help with cooling with the rear mount, but also make the rear end look a bit more “racecar”. And what should I do with the vents in the hood? Keep em? Update them?

Lmk your thoughts.

I'm having a hard time picturing the tail gate vents. The Mazda gate is just so iconic to this truck at this point. I regards to the hood vent, I'm digging the one that's on it. Would a different vent placement be helpful for more cooling in the engine bay? Genuinely curious.

I don't know about the tailgate vent, what I do like as a hood vent is one big reverse scoop in the middle and 2 smaller on the sides. So what you have now in 2 smaller longer variants on the side and in the middle drop down a big part of the hood (lower towards the front), so just one big extractor in the middle. Regarding the tailgate vents, can't you make the side vents in the bodykit functional? Since you will be partially sideways most of the time I suppose they scoop quite a bit of air. and when you just have the intake and no extraction the hot air will be forced up over the tailgate, since you will generate a high pressure zone in the bed area.
