With the IS300 finished it was time to move onto the foxbody mustang!

Over the past few days I’ve made a bunch of progress. I started by modifying the manifold and mounting the new turbo to that. Then, I modified the crossover pipe to fit up to the new manifold.

With the turbo “lightly mounted” I built a super solid mount off the alternator bracket to support the weight of it. If I just left the turbo attached to the manifold, I think it would’ve eventually cracked. This entire turbo kit is super old and rusty so we’re trying to make it last as long as possible lol.

Finally I built a new 3.5” downpipe. The previous one was 3” and barely fit. This one also barely fits but it’s at least all one piece so it’s much easier to install/remove. I also went ahead and hooked up all the oil/coolant lines for the turbo and got the intercooler piping reinstalled. Oh that reminds me, I DID have to modify the hot side intercooler pipe a bit.

Tomorrow I’ll start working on the exhaust. It’ll be a super simple straight pipe with a resonator.

I gotta be honest, I’ve really enjoyed this project. The fab has been challenging and rewarding.
