I've been informed that recently Patreon has been deleting NSFW accounts due to unnamed violations. No warning, just an instant Thanos snap.

I've also received a few warnings in the past and deleted those posts since I had no idea what the problematic part was. Anything non-con or questionably aged interaction is under their radar.

But it seems incest and such things are a no-go too.

Now, I know there are far bigger smut fanfic writers on Patreon who write stuff far more intense than me. But the truth is that they're running on luck too.

So, just a heads-up. If someday you can't find this page here you can find me on Subscribestar. In that case, I'll also look for more places and notify you on Discord and free sites.

Also, I got an email today. Apple will now be taking a 30% cut from each subscription made (from my side).

Dark times ahead.

Some other creators are going to pdf instead of a straight up post. Not sure how that gets around.

What does Apple have to do with anything? Do they own patreon?

MrPlotThickens

Apple owns iOS. Patreon app exists on iOS. Apple tells Patreon to only use their Apple payment service or else Patreon will be removed from Apple store. Now on each sale on that Apple payment service, Apple gets to take 30% fee for letting Patreon use their services.

MrPlotThickens

It's like extortion. Though you can circumvent the extra charges by using Safari browser to subscribe to a Patreon.

So it's only a problem if you do everything through the app? And if you decided to just do your patreon post, and/or work through a web browser you don't have to worry about Apple pilfering your profits?

Robert Brown

I'm pretty sure you should be able to get the patreon app in the Google play store if you have a android phone

JO LP

At the very least, subscribers must pay using other methods, because Apple will surely take their cut from that side of the transaction. I'm guessing that you will still be able to do everything else through the app with no issue, it's just the subscribing that needs to be done some other way.

MrPlotThickens

It's not on me but Patrons. If iOS users use Patreon app and but a 10$ tier then they will be charged 13$ instead. But, if you buy that same tier from Safari or any internet browser then you won't be charged extra. Honestly. Patreon has given the option that either the Patreon Creator can suffer the cost and earn less. Or you can turn the option to charge iOS user 30% more. In this case, not many Patreon creators will be keen on taking that 30% hit. It's just better to buy Patreon membership through browsers for both creator and customer.

JO LP

@Robert Brown. Well, yes, if you have an android there is no issue. This is an issue for iOS users, why would it matter for android users?
