The is the pov of the other potential Ancient candidate. That's why she mentions the slugs being so in determined to capture her. The question is, what is she? She's had children already, but still has wings. She can't be an ant or a termite.

Termite colonies aren't called hives so it's probably wasps considering those are insects that are actually related to ants

I think it’s a bee just based on how accurate the terminology has been so far. Also She’s probably a reincarnation or a champion.

She mentioned her spawning, went down several strata so she couldn’t have started in the 4th, the termite Queens the Ka’armodo designed seem pretty similar to RL ones (can only lay eggs and depend on colony to survive), this one has wings, no mention of the ants only sapients, Hive instead of Colony term. 1st few points rule out Kaarmodo termites. Hive term, makes me think of bees.

It's the lost Termite queen. with an elemental-style revamp, if I have my layers right? Abyssal hells, this is either going to be a whole arc or they are going to get giga nuked by Athony instantly, and honestly I think it should be the latter unless there is a new complication other then elementalization the author can throw at it. We already had an anti-termite section. The running kill quest joke is already taken by the centipedes. Is it just me that wants them acknowledged, used for whatever plot device is required, nuked, and then gone? Without a giant campaign or needing Anthony to jump a tier to specifically overcome THEM?

Interesting... Talking of "the hive", "small ones" (knowledge of the colony), and ones she "failed".... I'm assuming this is a termite queen.

She mentions the "grasping hands of the small ones", so we can assume the small ones to refer to one or more sapient biped races (such as humans, folk, brathian, magpei, etc). The term "colony" is used for termites, not "hive". She also notes this: "Danger only increased in the Dungeon, she had learned that painful lesson many times over as she had descended" ...which implies that she came from somewhere higher than the fourth. This is likely a bee or wasp. However... given the level of harassment by the Krath, it is easy to assume a wasp, given that wasps are relatives of ants.

Its a 6 legged insect queen who has a hive 1. Wasp/Hornet 2. Termite Queen who escaped and is trying to recover what she lost. (Possible? But some might find it boring so I opt to think its the above wasp) 3. Another Ant species (unlikely) 4. Bees (unlikely imo given we are likely to war with these) More specifically it could be a large variation of wasps (think like the Asian Giant Hornet) Also if you make both the same size and give them wings a wasp and ant are pretty similar in overall shape. It would make sense the Krath would chase her hard

Well after reading a bunch about six legged winged insects related to ants that have hives, I hope it's a bee because yay bees. Electric Bees! Thanks for the chapter!

I don't think it can be termites. They are social and can have wings, but hives typically have artificial structures associated with them (I.E. paper or honeycomb) and termites don't have that. It might be some large wasp, but queen insects are relatively large (The Queen for the colony was only smaller than Anthony when he was tier 7) so the character in this chapter might be considering the sapients small relative to herself rather than the standard for her species.

My money is on a bee of some kind! I could possibly see a wasp, but something is really appealing about a bee! (Maybe it’s the bad rap wasps get for being overly aggro?)

My theory: she’s an intelligent Wasp Queen, with high lightning affinity, spawned from the First strata. She’s ready to create a new species of her kin that are extremely deadly. Worse than Termites, as all Wasps have wings. I also think she’s the second Ancient Candidate that was described by big ol slime daddy. She’s got the drive, and she made it further than Anthony has so far. Thunder Wasps? Thunderstorm Wasps? Very curious about this now.

Seems like electricity is one of their core abilities so my bet is on bees. Bees have always been strongly associated with electricity.

This new candidate/character is really cool, but I don't think she's on the same level as Antony. If we stop to observe, wow, our little ant is way stronger.
