One in 25 Americans is certain. We live ruled over by reptilians. So how was this belief system born, and how was its story carried through time? This is the studio version of the segment Travis View wrote for our recent tour. From Richard Shaver to Maurice Doreal to David Icke — we examine the genesis of the reptilian conspiracy theory.

Wow I love this history of the reptilian fever dream. Has QAA ever done an episode on that 80s movie They Live? Feels like similar aesthetics (secret lizard skeleton-y like creatures masquerading as people and running the world.) Similar themes predominate. TBH I liked the movie as a kid, but I hear it has been since hijacked by the right.

Regarding the staying power of this obviously fake conspiracy: I think there's a part of this that feels true because the extremely rich live in a way that feels so removed, so alien, to the lives we live. I read an article recently about people who consider themselves to be techy geniuses who intend to have tons of kids and convince their fellow elites to have tons of kids so they can basically rule the world, and I don't believe they're actually lizards or anything, but as a metaphor for how inhuman they seem in the interview, it almost feels right.

love the pod, have listened weekly for over a year now, I still can't tell the boys apart, there are probably 3? Julian, Jake, Travis something? the riffs are funny but i never know who's they are. When I think about it I had been listening to chapo for 2 years when I processed that felix and Matt were different people :/

That article is so darkly funny. They’re like "we’re ubermensch!” but all THEIR genetic imperfections are fine cause they’re still the best and most worth preserving somehow. From memory the original V mini-series was broadcast in the UK during the LA Olympics in the summer '84 as filler. Because there was a strike on at the commercial ITV network which meant no live broadcasts were allowed to be transmitted. Having read A LOT of Robert E. Howard as a teenager any of the alien/lizard-people conspiracies I hear mentioned make me laugh out loud.
