Based on things he's said in previous reactions, I've come to the conclusion that he's already watched it. He's seemed to have reference Tanya here and there. Though that doesn't mean he can't still watch it fro the analysis.

It seems like so many people misinterpret the Serie and Lernen scene. Serie is disappointed because Lernen is too humble, not confident of his own abilities and was ok with her proctoring the test when he would always be the one to do so. A man with a lack of ambition and confidence even though Serie believes he has the ability to actually defeat Frieren, who has lost to multiple humans before. Contrast that to Denken when faced with Frieren and Serie, who is full of confidence and drive. That's the drive Serie wanted to see in Lernen.

I am so hoping that we keep the band together for Frieren S2. This show was 100% special, and its themes of memory, growth, and, yes, love are handled with such deftness and skill I can only sit back and applaud. MadHouse went out of their way to produce a masterpiece, and I feel myself uplifted every time I watch this show.
