I might be an outlier but I actually like the item she is levelling far too fast for her skills and Vivi needs all the levels she can get to figth basically every second like its probably gonna happen at some point

Hmm, if it’s only taking a percentage of her exp, or maybe taking the boosted gain leaving her with the normal growth rate, or reversed taking the normal gain but letting her get the extra from the boost, then I think it’s good. She is under leveled to be a significant part of any real fight right now. It slowing her progress so she can build foundations, but also letting her progress some, would be the best of both. Personally if it was taking 50% of the total exp, the. It would be ideal as I see it. With the boost rate she has that’s still an impressive fast speed, that would continue to let vivi also level fast, but it’s also slower so she has more time to progress on a fundamental level.

Could be a little bit of a stretch, but I think the system might be playing it aggressively. Void beasts are not a threat by any means to Vivi herself, as was stated that popping the greatest of them was not more that a mild strain of muscles. Shattered Oracle's concept had slain a Void God and then revealed that system thought Vivi being so much above it in strength that it bugged him. We also know that being powerful, trully powerful, attracts void beasts, again from Remian's words. While not explicitly stated, Sorceres must be strong for her level, like Sword Saint will easily win over someone of similar level. For example, there is a spell that was mentined once - one that would allow Vivi to gain immense power but would cripple her in a way afterward. Perhaps system just wants to use the Goddes of Magic, who is strong even when taking into comparison her level, to expand its control, eradicate the competition - void. And what is better than making a beacon bringhter? Maybe that outward helpfulness and omnipresence are only a deceitful appearance. Well, that gives the system a sapience of sorts or perhaps an ability to prioritize its goals above safety of the world residents. Still would be interesting to see the story that way - expanding upon the world, its origins and the system.

The game, or world rather, XP scaling seems a bit odd. If level works such that it requires say 100xp to level up but you gain less and less xp for slaying monsters of lower level, then the chalice shouldn’t be all that useful for Vivi to level up others from killing a voidbeast. If instead the xp gained from monsters is fixed but the amount required for leveling up increases then it doesn’t matter whether or not Saffra fills up the chalice for her because it’ll be exactly the same amount of XP.

I believe it's working by percentage. As stated, this is an item that 'breaks rules'. So when it has 70% of a level, it provides that amount for Vivi.

your theory could also work and eliminate the need for sapience if the system is merely a tool of the divine gods for managing the world. it could be being manipulated by one or more of them to achieve these ends.

icesharkk

remember when people were complaining about saffra leveling too fast causing both narrative and in universe consequences? the author has fixed this proble... and your all mad about this now.

A very interesting chapter although I am somewhat on the fence regarding the chalice on one hand I think it seems rather cool and an interesting plot development on the other it seems a bit much and maybe it needs to be limited in some way maybe like it can only give someone a total of 10% of the levels that they have naturally earned which would grant Vivi total of 210 additional levels a substantial amount with out being to absurd .This would also prevent some fat princeling acquiring the item and drinking his way to godhood.

Real Name

They're probably not the same people lol, but it's not hard to see why someone might just dislike the idea of leveling cheats in general.

Cautionary. It's not that it's a cheat item, but rather an overly strong and complex item that can be a world breaker without a down side. It can break the story annoying readers with... "I just use or I just use more of it". A world breaker destroys the story being a non-character OP device or spell that eventually ends interesting conflict. Having anything like oh say a lava proof teleporting One Ring that returns to it's master makes the story ... "I'll just use that". It may be a Stormbringer.

Hpez

It is an op Mc story to begin with and she's already 100 levels past the level cap, and THE master of her field. She even admits to herself in the chapter that the threat of the void is mostly in their resistance, and research and study is the way around that rather than brute forcing through levels. I don't really think this is going to be a problem the way you think it could be. Number on vivi's status goes up, nothing really changes honestly, and we get to feel like she's progressing. Saffra gets to level faster so we don't have to do super long timeskips where they just grinded all day.

My prediction for the Chalice siphoning exp gains as % which is then given to drinker as a % was correct. I do wonder however, if there are any drawbacks to this. What if the givers "standards" increase. As in, saffra gives vivi 100 levels, but her level 415 is now treated as level 515, and she has to perform feats worthy of giving a level 515 exp. Food for thought, It's an OP item no matter what though, and would allow anyone in the world to surpass even Vivi herself given some time. Perhaps there are limits, like you can only drink 100 levels or whatever, but still, an op item.

Greg Johnston

I hope Saffra finds out what level vivi is. it will be super funny
