MHA Chapter 55: Blast Off (Patreon)

A/N: Hey guys, as both a celebration and because I am in an MHA writing Fugue I will be daily releasing MHA for a few days on Patreon as a mass release, I hope you enjoy it.

"Are you ready for the finale Hakari-kun? I sure am!"

Toga said while swinging her legs, sitting on the desk in my changing room like she belonged there. I am pretty sure there was security to prevent this kind of stuff but Toga didn't care about such paltry stuff.

"I guess kind of? Not really scared of Bakugou, she is strong but not anywhere near Shoto and I am particularly resistant to explosions. Also, how did you even get here? I keep forgetting to ask."

Toga made an innocent expression.

"That's simple! I ask Toru-chan for her blood to be able to sneak around everywhere! I even keep a small vial of her blood on me at all times for convenience~." She retrieved a vial from her skirt pocket and shook it like a prize.

I shook my head fondly.

"Well, I should get going, I have a feeling that if I make Bakugou wait she is gonna blow a fuse, or the arena depending on how things go." Toga nodded happily and jumped down from the desk before giving me a quick smooch on the lips.

"Alright~ ganbare Hakari-kun, I'll be watching. I'll have to think of some celebrations so I'll see you after the winner's ceremony~."

Toga skipped away making me smile a little before I put my game face on. It was time to face Bakugou, although I was confident I shouldn't get complacent, I learned that dearly when Izuku stoned me with 100% finger. With the force behind her explosions she could actually knock me out if I give her the chance.

Shaking my head I started walking down the uncomfortably long corridor once more, carrying the loadout of Scary Monsters, Phase Shift, Frostflare and Seek Guidance. The fourth one was out of curiosity more than anything.

Getting out of the dark corridor I was met once again with the sight of the UA Stadium, packed more than ever with the fanfare the loudest it has ever been, this was the final round after. People couldn't get enough of the teen-on-teen violence.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Hold onto your seats because this is the final round! Who will go home a winner and who will go home slightly less of a winner? Let's find out! In one corner we have Kasumi Bakugou! The girl with the explosive temper and an even more explosive style! In the other corner we have Kotaro Hakari! The boy with the endless tricks up his sleeve!"

Present Mic's voice riled up the already excited crowd as we both stepped onto the arena, I saw Kasumi glaring at me with her crimson-coloured eyes but otherwise seemed calmer than I had expected her to be.

"Hey." She spoke in an unusually calm but tense voice as she addressed me, cracking her knuckles without breaking the line of sight. "Don't you dare hold back on me by not using all of your abilities. If you do I will seriously kill you. I am not some weakling who needs your pity effort."

Her speech was mirrored by the messages on the ground from Seek Advice, although they really lessened the impact of her words as I sneakily read them.

'Brat ahead, therefore correction.' 'Time for fight.' 'Pride ahead, try full strength'. 'Crushing defeat ahead.' 'Dog?' 'Dog!'

I couldn't make sense of half of the shit on the ground but I got the gist that Bakugou would get seriously pissed if I held back, and not in a joking manner either, if I held back against her.

Well, if that was her wish, I wasn't going to spit in her face when she was looking at death and demanding seconds.

"Alright then, I won't hold back at all Bakugou, however, you may regret those words. After all, you should remember how this went last time."

Bakugou gave a feral grin as her hands popped and crackled with miniature explosions getting into a battle pose instantly.

"I've gotten much stronger than I was back then!"

Without even finishing her words Bakugou leapt forward, accelerating herself to incredible speeds with her explosions, in response I honoured my words, turning on Scary Monsters and Phase Shift, lashing out with a fist towards Bakugou who switched directions mid-air and blasted downwards. Hitting me square on and actually hurting is quite a hit. She was stronger.

Boom!

"No kidding, you might actually force me into some trouble like this."

I shattered the ground beneath my feet and jumped toward her, frostflare swirling around my arm as I threw a blast towards her in retaliation that she countered with her own explosion. Her explosion obviously beat out frostflare since it had much more weight and power behind it, its kinetic force scattering the frostflare but I ignored that and tried to grab her before she used her explosions to spin around before slamming her heel into the back of my head sending me down.

"Obviously dumbass! I have been training everyday since I lost to you! Now stay down!"

"How about you come down instead."

Having had enough of challenging a flier to aerial combat I switched Seek Guidance with Gravity Jail, making my eyes glow yellow before Bakugou suddenly plummeted down. Just barely managed to land safely by cushioning herself with her explosions, now that she was both grounded and off guard I charged at her with my speed, aiming to drive my fist into her gut hard enough to send her out of the arena but just as I reached her, she pulled another card out of her sleeve, pointing her hands downwards and slightly towards me.

"Landmine!"

Rather irritatingly I felt the force of her large explosion that drowned out the cheers on the ground knock me off my feet before swinging her arm and blasting me again, making me feel like I got hit by a truck or one of Shoto's icebergs before I righted myself and ended up back on my feet.

"You aren't the only one with tricks this time asshole!"

Boom!

Bakugou took to the skies once again, going as far as she could before I pulled out Gravity Jail again to ground her but contrary to my expectations she smirked wildly.

"You fell for it, dumbass!"

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Countless mini explosions occurred as she spun like a tornado with her explosions, plummeting down toward me even faster than normal, seeming like a living missile or meteor of smoke and fire coming down on me, only much stronger most likely.

'You have to dodge that if you do not want to end up back in the infirmary.' My Half-Light helpfully supplied the factoid as I switched out Frostflare for Blink and teleported up just in time for the Thermonuclear Bakugou Missile to strike my previous position.

"HOWITZER IMPACT!"

BOOOOOOM!!!!!!

I felt the shockwave from the explosion hit my body, the explosion dwarfed the arena and shook the entire stadium as if an actual ballistic missile had hit. I definitely would not gone unscratched if I got hit by that, doubly so considering it annihilated the entire arena. That was comparable to Shoto's Steam Blast.

...Yeah, no dragging this out, I am ending this shit right now. Focusing on Offensive Form I teleported back down to the arena and dashed toward Bakugou who was panting heavily, raising my leg and swinging hard toward her, hitting her arm while she blasted me in exchange but thanks to Scary Monsters I was far tougher.

"Grah!"

Boom!

She barely managed to avoid a ring out by stopping herself at the edge with a well-timed explosion, but such a thing did not help her broken left arm that would be useless for using her quirk with. She glared at me as she charged another explosion in the middle of her palm, darting toward me like a wild animal with an almost scary glint in her eyes while I stood my ground against her.

"JUST DIE!!!"

BOOOM!!!

I ducked and slapped her hand up as she released the explosion, redirecting it toward the sky before grabbing her wrist and twisting it behind her back before sprinting as fast as I could toward the edge of the arena, breaking the speed of sound and disorientating Bakugou enough that I was able to throw her out of the arena with a shoulder throw, slamming her onto the hard concrete as her eyes widened.

"Bakugou is out of bounds! Hakari Kotaro is the victor!"

Midnight declared a moment later after her eyes were finally able to catch up with what happened to her due to my immense speed. And moments after her declaration the entire studio was drowned by the sound of thunderous applause, it felt... pretty good in all honestly. Never had people cheer for me before.

But I ignored that for now as I looked down on Bakugou on the ground who held a frustrated expression, hell, I almost felt bad for her, she looked ready to cry.

Shaking my head I extended a hand toward her as she looked at me with an expression of both bafflement and muted annoyance before I spoke.

"...You were pretty strong Bakugou, you almost had me on the ropes." I smiled at her and extended my hand further as she turned her face away with a slight flush and muttered.

"Fucking show off jackass. But... thanks."

But despite her muttering she sighed and took my hand, pulling herself up with an unreadable expression.

"What did you say? I couldn't hear you over the sound of the applause!" I couldn't help but gloat just a little at Bakugou to dispel her sombre mood by aggravating her which seemed to work.

"I said shut up jackass! I didn't need your help to get up!"

I shrugged my shoulders and shook my head before putting my hand on her head and stroking her spiky hair comfortingly as she trembled and stood still at the sheer audacity of what I was doing.

"Yeah yeah, sure sure, keep telling yourself that. It's cute how deep you are in denial." Her pupils shook furiously as she tried to process a multitude of emotions at once like a lagging computer while I kept petting her deceptively soft hair before she finally slapped it away with a nuclear blush that made her look like she was going to explode.

"Get your fucking hand off me! Do you want me to kill you you fucking multi bastard! I'll blast your goddamn hands off!"

Man, seeing her violent reactions like this makes me just want to tease her even more.

"Hmm, can you though?" I lifted her chin up with one finger as her eyelids twitched, her sheer confusion and befuddlement allowing me so much leeway as I teased. "I think we already established who wins no? That means you can't stop me~"

I think Toga was rubbing off on me a little bit too much. But the furious blush on Bakugou's face as she slapped my hand off of her again and raised her hackles like an angry kitten was worth it.

"S-So what!? I'll blast your goddamn hand off if you try that shit again!"

She looked genuinely ready to blast me even with her broken arm before Midnight interrupted us with a cough.

"Kids, could you cut your flirting short or move it to the changing rooms so that we can clear the arena for the reward ceremony?"

Bakugou turned to Midnight with a face that I could only describe as a mix of mortification, pure anger and humiliation.

"WE AREN'T FLIRTING!"

I shook my head and grabbed her by the collar and lifted her up like an angry kitten.

"You heard her Bakugou, let's move our flirting to the infirmary, you need healing anyway." She trashed about in my grasp but with my height I could hold her up from the ground and away from me to keep myself safe from her trashing, her being dead tired also helped.

"I SAID WE AREN'T! SHUT UP YOU YAKUZA BASTARD!"

I couldn't help but chuckle at her antics.

Who knew even Bakugou could have a cute side to her?

A/N: The final round of the Sports Festival, I hope it didn't feel too dragged out for you guys. It may have been a little longer than I wanted it to be but I am pretty satisfied with it overall. Did you guys like the sports festival arc? And more importantly, what do you expect from the internship arc? I would love to know.

Also, I realized that I gender-bent Bakugou and yet have done nothing with her so far. So I decided to rectify it a little with this chapter, I quite liked writing about her interactions with Hakari, she is a dynamite and he loves setting her off. Do you guys like gender-bent Bakugou/Kasumi? What did you guys think about her? I'd love to know.
