A friend lent me his Rivian for a winter storm, so I used it! Easily the most competent snow runner I've ever driven. And we actually helped people while out and about. Good day.

Unfortunately, the footage is pretty terrible. Trying to document what was happening without the filming getting in the way proved nearly impossible.

Rescuing Stuck Cars in a Rivian

I started to stand up, to go shower. Then sat down immediately to watch this. Anything Mr. Dunn does, I watch.

I find my Ioniq 5 (RWD) to be incredibly capable in the snow. I keep trying to get the back end to break free in a corner and it just refuses! Snow tires go a long way, I'm surprised you did so well without them. It shows what AWD and good traction control can do.

Did a friend join you, or did a random stranger just joined the angel squad for a while?

NeonPreservation

i thoroughly enjoyed watching this, i have no doubt you made so many peoples' day! it was neat to see how capable the Rivian is as well. great job Robert (and Jono)!

Charles Broderick

I loved doing this kind of thing with my dad after storms. Thanks for getting out there and helping the healthcare community get to work! Double thanks for sharing it with all of us.

If ever, in the video where you're pulling random strangers out of the snow all day until midnight :P I don't know what car culture is like, but hitchhikers are a thing and you did get a car borrowed to you by someone who isn't far from a random stranger it seems.

Seeing you and others out there tugging people out restores my faith in humanity. I was one of the commuters that day before the plows went through and my jetta ate a lot of snow and I saw a lot of people go off that I couldn't help

Great video. Best ad I’ve seen for Rivian I live in MN and someone nearby has that exact Rivian and I’ve always wondered how it does.

The excitement to TOW PEOPLE is great. Love it. Looks like a really long, full day of rescue. Great work!

Nick Elrod

Rivian R2 and R3 can't start production soon enough, this video just made me want one of each even more.

Alexander Ciesla

I’ve got those same Pirelli Scorpion AT tires on a 4Runner, I’d say they’re just ‘okay’ in winter… so that speaks really highly of the Rivian!

The joy of seeing the Hummer EV was palpable.

Hi! A bit of constructive criticism: please use white font with a drop-shadow when subtitling. This way it doesn't matter what the background color is, the text is always readable. Thank you for your videos and hours of entertainment!

The fact you have this kind of weather, yet were perfectly comfortable in the Netherlands when it was 35c still boggles my mind a little. The gulf stream has made our northern climate way to easy it seems. Also, we had a snowstorm once in the old country where we had the power go out for 3-4 days (which nobody was prepared for). One of the only vehicles that could get about was my Ape 50, so I spend 3 days going about just like this, ferrying people, lugging a generator about so people could heat their house and whatnot. There is great joy in helping people get going again. Protip: if the driven wheels loose traction in snow, stuff the floor mats under them.

Hey Robert, just so you know, run a tow strap around the lower control arm and pull that way. That is what all the professionals do.

agingwheels

I did that once and that involved lying down in the snow and getting the tow strap so stuck it nearly had to be cut off

Kenneth Garrett

It's great that you're doing this, but don't do it with a ball hitch. If you do it again, you need to get a hitch designed for tow straps. https://youtu.be/aOV3DbgXHCQ?si=Z9eTmvKoAFXynanm TL;DW Someone did something similar on mud, and the ball hitch broke, went through the windshield of the stuck truck, and killed it's driver.
