Here's a short little video about my third (and final, hopefully) Coda. I also add some missing details about the whole EDI story

By the way, I'm finally working on the bus again. It'll be a while until this work results in a video, but progress is happening!

Yay! Good to hear the bus is being worked on again. Eager to (very eventually) see how it comes out in the end.

Evan Hartmann

Was your daily driver the only car that was plugged in?

Evan Hartmann

Do you have enough parts after sending whatever you need back to the guy in California to convert a vehicle to electric?

Wayne Moyer

Now I went around the topic over in Youtube but I'll just ask here. Now that you've sold the Festiva that you've been using since new. What is your actual daily driver or are you just picking different vehicles from the fleet?

Evan Hartmann

Any ideas of a car you’d want to try to do it to? I’d say the fiesta but I can’t imagine that would be a good idea. EDIT I did not remember you sold the fiesta.

deefdragon

Any chance you will bring Back the aging daily vlog while working on the bus?

agingwheels

Lately it's been mostly the Coda and the Robin with the pickup mixed in when it is needed. So yeah, just picking stuff from the fleet

agingwheels

None of them were plugged in for years. That's the only reason I have hope that the two dead cars still have good batteries. The car I now use every day sat at 20% for years without trouble

Evan Hartmann

So if it came to being able to save the coda or the wheego which one would you choose because they take batteries that can fit in both. Probably

deefdragon

fair enough. I expect the editing can take a third of the day. Is there any chance we could get something like status update shorts instead?

Misha Dellinger

Aww, you sold the Fiesta? Otoh, it's not like you're hurting for cars.

NoTvandbeermakehomergo

Would you consider converting the spare body back into a Hafei Saibao. That way you will have the set 😂.

Those Chinese motors could come in handy for a future all-electric all-dangerous lawnmower conversion. Or, or or or hear me out: the fastest Wheego. If it has more power than the stock Wheego motor, that is, and (optionally) if it fits. The history of these cars is super interesting though. Deciding to focus their energy into taking over their battery manufacturer, instead of working with them to build a narrower battery of the same capacity, is some peak Silicon Valley thinking. Patiently awaiting a future video where you open one of these up so we can see all the ways they could've made it fit but chose not to.

Be-Ankh-Ah

Ooh, CAN bus! It's a pretty straightforward communication protocol. That said, the payloads are basically completely up to the manufacturer and can be as wildly imaginative as they want. Learning to read hexadecimal is a big help--that's the easiest way to see the messages in raw format.

Sometimes I wish you could spell out some of the abbreviations you use in your videos. What's an EDM drive? I'm neither a native English speaker nor that familiar with car internals, so I am sometimes lost :-D I know what I'm getting into when I watch your Trabant engine rebuild and understand very little to nothing, but at least it's a "drive shaft bearing" and not a DSB.
