I was having a very similar experience. I was psyching myself up for the adventure to come, then I realised that they were just canvassing for the local by-election. Oh well, perhaps another time ...

Andy couldn't believe it was happening again.   It was bad enough when Caroline came to complain a few days ago about the disaster that had been caused in her  apartment while she'd been making love to Kelly.  (See 'Sorry Caroline'  https://www.patreon.com/posts/sorry-caroline-146568631 .)  When he'd started, he'd never bargained for the AI spillover.  How could some  of his simple musings and jottings have crossed over into the real world?  Yes, he had been dreaming about Caroline when he started providing instructions to the generative programme for his artwork about art classes and paint splash mishaps.   The coding  had been relatively simple.   He'd just needed to describe Caroline and then place her within his storyline.    Describing Caroline was the easy bit: she already  looked like the Auntie of his dreams, but how had Kelly got involved?   Up to that day he'd just thought Kelly was one of Caroline's friends.   A very attractive younger friend, but a friend.   He hadn't realised that Kelly was that kind of friend or that Caroline was that way inclined in real life.   His AI scenario had projected that Caroline would be a dominant: what Auntie wasn't?   But Kelly?   He'd always thought Kelly was cute.   He liked Kelly.   She was the sort of girl he wanted as a girlfriend.   Like if he was going to have a girlfriend.   As if that was likely.    And then the crossover occurred.  Caroline hadn't forgiven him for getting paint everywhere in her apartment.   Nor probably for getting Kelly so messed up.   There was still a trail of paint running along the hallway below, the corridor and stairs.   Real paint.  Not AI paint.  What a shame!   He still fancied Caroline so much.  (And Kelly.)   How could the imaginary turn into the physical?   And now this? He'd been writing about Bergman and Knightley for months and nothing had occurred.  Then came the Caroline incidents (he'd learned from Caroline that there had been other recent occurrrences - he had to stop dreaming about that woman), and now B&K arrive on his doorstep.   Metaphorical doorstep: he'd been down in the garage collecting his bike when the van had pulled up yesterday.   He was reckoning it had to be to do with the latest software upgrade that he'd installed a couple of weeks ago.   Maybe he should have twigged that this release had what was called the 'BK extension', but who bothered to read the small print?  He'd just ticked all the acceptance boxes that software companies insist on these days and got on with the installation.  BK had to be for Back-up. Yesterday he'd been lucky.  Yesterday he'd made a run for it.  He'd managed to grab his bike, evade the B&K staff, and ride across the park to stop the B&K van from chasing him.  (He knew what to do; he'd seen ET enough times.)  Today it looked like his luck had run out.   This time they'd come prepared.  This time they'd brought Geoffrey.   He didn't fancy his chances with Geoffrey.   (Although there was something about Geoffrey that he thought he might fancy another time.)
