Hey folks!

So the other day someone annoyed me by complaining that I don't shoot the videos in 4K resolution. I'm sure 4K is great for video games, but for a Youtube channel I still think it's a bit overkill and somewhat unnecessary.

In my frustration, I joked about making the new Akihabara video look like a 1980's VHS style video, as opposed to 4K.

- And then I did it.

To my surprise, it actually turned out far better than I could have dreamed - and whilst I only did it for the opening minute (I think it'd be a bit annoying for the full 10 mins), it's one of my favourite sequences of recent times.

Check it out (above) and let me know your thoughts!

The full video should be out Wednesday evening! Looking forward to sharing it with you all!

Hahaha you actually did it! I personally love it but I think I'd also like to see it unfiltered. Maybe put an unlisted link to that in the description? Or like you said in your post, just tack it on to the intro and nothing else.

It's a cool opening, but it wouldn't work for the whole video! It'd go from nice sequence to a wholly alienating experience to 50% of viewers haha.

Can't directly reply to your comment but yeah I think right after you started replying I added the edit saying I agree with the intro thing. Should have read the whole post before commenting haha.

Street Fighter, Anime figures, Mario and 80's VHS nostalgia... You somehow found the access panel in my brain didn't you? ;)

Anonymous

It's great, my favourite part was the provocative figures. I expect an in depth tour of that specific area of Akihabara

Love it!

the music going out of phase was such a good touch

Jason

That was brilliant and had me thinking back to my childhood. Tue good old VHS tape with the odd dirty spot.

Awesome!

This is just awesome! I am still not sure what the video is about though? I have a feeling its about Akihabara, maybe? I think the video needs more titles.

Looks great! :)

clearly he just ripped off the opening 1:20 to Dempagumi Inc's magnum opus "Akihabara Life" https://youtu.be/tuMRPUqP1ho

Everything about that was perfect, right down to the slightly muffled distortion on the narration.

Nari Kim

Haha, amazing intro! :D

Kenny Gagne

That's fantastic.

Matthew Cirilli

The only thing this is missing is Natsuki's "go fuck yourself" line at the end. I would also like his quote to be in the 80s style if possible :-) Well done, sir!

Ryan Wolf

I love it dude

Absolutely love it. Dead on with the 80's aesthetic.

This is incredible!

Andreas Andersson

Keep the intro this way, would catch a lot of viewers of guard 👍

Lost it at "5 things to do in Akihabara...........video" keep it up Chris!

Miles Gard

If this doesn't become the official tourism video for Akihabara, there is no hope for the world.

t4ku57

This is extremely my thing :D

Watch out, David Atten-bara is here

Mark Rogers

Love it! It's got everything but the hair.

This was great. The other day I watched a US movie from the 80s set in Japan an it looked pretty similar to this. That rolling flicker line (don't know what it's actually called) takes me back.

Laura Beaumont

Need to sell an actual VHS copy of this! 😆

Chantal Ward

Lol boy, that brought back some memories. Spot on. Also, people should be happy that you even make videos of the quality that you do, and as entertaining as you do. Sometimes people begin to feel entitled to have their opinions considered simply because they enjoy the thing they're having opinions about and that somehow qualifies them as an expert. Beats me how they reach that conclusion. But at least it produced something as funny as this!

Anonymous

haha Brilliant!

You could export and upload videos in 4k. Then people will think you've gotten a 4k camera when you haven't ;D

Anonymous

It astonishes me that people have time to complain about stuff like this. The fact you take the time to make videos at all is something we should all be grateful for. Keep it up Chris; your entertainment value is boundless!
