I've found some time to research and experiment. I liked the idea of dragging the screen around instead of scrolling from the beginning. I haven't done it afterall, because I didn't want to get rid of the context menu (if you right click the game, you can see various options). I guess it's possible to make an extra button for this or something.

Finally I tried Drag & Drop. But first:

It is not possible to use the middle mouse button in flash! (except on FlashAir on which I don't develop)

I have a very small test file in the attatchment of this post. Please try it out and tell me what you think! It will cost you merely seconds to do this.

After that, please vote on the poll below.

Furthermore, if you choose the last poll option, It would be very helpful if you can post the solution you have in mind.

I have far more to tell, but I do a cut here. Let's wait for the results.

this would be nice, possibly have multiple control variants in an options menu or something

Ooh, i never did notice that option being added :) Now if you could add an option to turn off edge scrolling and/or make the game screen 16:9 aspect ratio* rather than 4:3 i'd be very happy :D *The game displays fine in widescreen, but the UI doesn't, giving you huge bars on the sides of the screen that just scrolls if the mouse hits them
