I need your help in choosing the next array of enemies.
Like: Finding out if you people would like to see a centaur alone is already really helping to set the plan in stone.
I have my opinion on most of the enemies, but I'd like to see the overall approval to each of them, cause you guys tend to surprise me. I'd never have guessed that the unicorn would win the latest poll. This is the point. Polls can steer my decisions. In a long run everything needs to come together. Like:
- is there enough enemy variation? In height, for example
- Does the "essences" that the player collect work out with the enemy combination?
- Do I need to make additional assets for the tileset I'm currently working on?
- Does one of the enemies have the potential to become an elite? Centaur, Satyr, Ogre comes to mind... But... small gnomes that talk dirty to Sonja is also a funny thought.
These are the enemies that will definitely make it into the next version:
- Boars
- Unicorns (cause of the last poll)
- Snakes (most likely as a trap; and probably big ones)
- something small that act like the bats
- a type of slime, cause there is only one that drops "slime essence", as of yet
Here are some enemies that I have to explain. All the rest should be clear, but if not, don't hesitate to ask in the comments!
Centaur:
The last poll showed that the interest in this creature is close to the unicorn. So I will give this guy another chance here!
Mushroom "Men":
About 1 meter of height. Simple design. "Men" is in quotes, cause they have short arms and legs, but won't look like humans at all.
Gnomes:
The ones from folklore, with the red, pointy hat. They could walk around in groups, like the bats.
There were some suggestions for mermaids. But there won't be a spring in the next area and a mermaid in a swamp is weird. At least for me. So that's why I didn't add it to the list.
When I refer to "small" it means that they will most likely act like bats and wander in groups. And "big" means they are way bigger than their natural height.
You have a multiple choice here! Check everything that you'd like to see. If an enemy suggestion is just "okayish" to you, please don't check it, so the result will be more clear to me.
Since I'm currently in the middle of drawing the tileset and assets, I will continue doing that, while you guys set your vote. Usually I can see early on which enemies are popular and which are not.
Once a few days have passed I will tell you the final result of how the enemies of the next area are put together. This poll won't have a deadline though.
In any case, please leave a comment if anything comes to mind! I can't consider things if people are silent. Silence means that everything is fine.
I wish you a fine sunday!
