Better Call Saul | 6x2 Watch Along

Comments

Daniel Bjork

Better Call Saul is such a fantastic representation of the “show don’t tell” rule. It would have been so easy for them to include dialogue explaining what Mike was doing with Nacho’s safe, but they trust the audience to pay close enough attention to figure it out on their own. So much of the story is told with the camera and the actors’ expressions rather than dialogue. You could go back and forth on whether BCS or BB is the better show, but I think unquestionably BCS is the better *made* show. Its like BB was made by a bunch of doctoral candidates working on their thesis and BCS was made by tenured professors.

So true. BB is a statue that a young sculptor became famous for. And BCS is his final work that outdid his best.

Just an honestly GOATed season of TV, and I think it finishes higher and stronger than Breaking Bad if you can believe it. There is no fluff, no filler, it's just all gas no breaks from episode 1 all the way to the amazing finale.

You missed Gus accidentally shattering the glass, that means he's AFRAID lol

It's undisputed in my mind that BCS is a better show by the end than BB. I understand a lot of people enjoy the pulpy (somewhat simpler) action-y broad appeal of BB (especially if you love Walt's antics) but imo BCS is the culmination of this team working together for like a decade plus in ABQ. There's a reason literally anyone they ask to return jumps at the chance here, even for a 1-2 scene cameo.

Kara

100% agree - BCS S6 actually does it almost too well at points, where in the episode discussion threads some people were legit confused (moreso than previous seasons). It's not a second-screen show and it EARNS that imo. In my opinion it's not even close. BCS is the *better made* show 100%, though it's completely valid to enjoy BB more.

Very reminiscent of Gus in the elevator after Hank questioned him about his past. How does the man in perpetual control act when he loses that control? etc.

Great ep, great reaction. Was fun seeing the Kettlemans again. I am so glad we've reached this point with y'all and Kim. VERY satisfying to see Kim unleash her full power on deserving targets... even Jimmy can't even stomach it lol. I think we spend most of the show thinking evil Saul Goodman will turn up and ruin nice Kim Wexler but in these two eps we see just how much Kim pushes and even reinvents these boundaries. I have never wanted someone to get out as much as I wanted Nacho to get out. I really think he's the Jesse of this show like.... he did bad things, he got in 'the game' to make scratch and "things escalated" and now he just wants freedom and peace and for his Dad not to be tortured. An amazing, underrated performance. Watching Mike stand on business is wild too like.... nice to be reminded that for all his entertainment and genius, Gus will still torture an innocent old man to 'win the game' etc. He's almost a bit of a loser here, scared, breaking glasses, threatening innocents... man's on the backfoot fr. You commented on it a bunch but the cinematography goes absolutely wild here. There are soooo many good subtle shots too. It's actually overwhelming, I watched every episode twice when it aired. Looking forward to the rest!!!

All you'd need to cosplay as Chuck is one of those space blankets.

Daymee

With no context, I love the sentence, "I didn't even realize I was looking at a lizard, which is crazy for me."

Pirwzy

Mmmm, the car following Jimmy and Kim at the end and not knowing who it is, such good teasing.

Joshua Luzania

I think at least one of your cosplays should be Jimmy/Sauls bright crazy suits.

Gus = Crime Luxury sounds about right
