I think with the timeline, it's best not too think about it too hard. I mean the teleporting is obviously dumb but the broader timeline is kind of impossible to make work. Because you can't help child actors growing up. The show was always going to take longer than the story from the books, which, at this time, has only been like a bit more than 2 years or something. So I don't blame them that at some point they decided that, as for the ages of the characters, they just are the ages of the actors and time has passed in the show correspondingly. Everything is just stretched out a bit more. But as I said, I think it's best not too think about it too much. The Stark children are mostly young adults now for the purposes of the show and that's that. Predictability, or unpredictability, is an interesting concept when it comes to storytelling. Ideally, in most cases you do want at least parts of a story to be unpredictable, otherwise it feels like there's no reason for the story to be told (even that can be questioned though, there are narratives out there that can be totally predictable, but we enjoy them nonetheless, and we obviously rewatch or reread stuff where we already completely know what happens). But unpredictability shouldn't exist for its own sake. If you're just introducing twists for the sake of the twist, it mostly just leads you to nonsensical story arcs. We predict things to happen because they make sense to happen. I think the best twists are those that are in some way predictable because the twist makes sense; we just didn't see it coming because the thing that the twist subverts, are the expectations of storytelling themselves, not the logical plotline. Great example is the Red Wedding; it's not a twist because it's unpredictable. In some ways, it's completely predictable, we'd been told numerous times that you can't trust Walder Frey. But it was a twist because we just don't expect a show to brutally murder three of its protagonists in what seemed to be the middle of their storylines; it upended the whole narrative, which is not something stories usually do. I'm honestly just glad that the Arya storyline in Braavos is over now. The show really never seemed to know what to do with it, and that's understandable, it isn't done yet in the books, and even in the books it's been kind of hard to figure out where GRRM is going with this particular plotline and character arc. Early on in the story, I really liked the Arya storyline and the themes it explores but I never really got into the Faceless Men arc. I think it's unclear what the Faceless Men ever saw in Arya, why they allowed her to be a recruit. Arya clearly does not want to be a faceless, nameless assassin, and just wants to go home and be Arya Stark again, and the Faceless Men obviously pick up on that. So who knows what they want with her. I do think the "Finally, a girl is no one" line is particularly dumb, it just existed to set up Arya's yaaass-queen line about going home, and was obviously nonsense, like no dude, her murdering another assassin was not a sign of her having become no one xD You can read it as him trying to manipulate her, trying one last time to get her to stay by validating her, but at this point, why would you even want her? But yeah, whatever, we're done with that now.

This is why people say that Ray Skywalker and the new star wars movies are trash, you can clearly see the difference just watching game of thrones Arya Stark is way better character than Rey Skywalker and as a strong female character. Arya’s story shows her toughness, growth, and real fight to survive, making her interesting and badass, i would not be surpised if she could almost take anyone on. Rey, though, in star Wars is so obvious her skills come too easy, she’s too perfect, and her story feels fake and boring, all while its so obvious that the writers are trying to shove female empowerment down our throats, in GOT none of that is being done and still we get these amazing characters.

From my experience if you know some good and bad cinema it becomes more often than not to be surprised by bad or "mid" media and not the good ones. Occasionally something comes out that is both great and unpredictible/unique but it is not that often. Personally, I still prefer to enjoy well-written show I will predict 50-70% of the time than a an unpredctible mess made just so I can binge it in few hours. A bit of a *SPOILER* on my take on later seasons This is actually one of my biggest criticism with the later seasons because the writer got so scared of doing the best and predictible that they often chose unpredictible to the detriment of the writing quality.

I will 100% disagree. Arya often overcomes things male characters in this universe would only dream of. IMO the best recent "strong female character" is Kim Wexler from Better Call Saul.

These reactions are my first time rewatching the show since it aired. This episode kind of foreshadows the trajectory of the writing. There were so many self referential, wink at the fans “they said the thing!” moments. And things happening just because. Idk that I picked up on that first watch. Regardless, next two episodes are top 3 so I’m excited for that.

On the DVD commentary the director of the episode said he told The Waif actress to run like the Terminator. He wanted her to look like the T-1000.

Yeah you definitely pick stuff like that up more on a rewatch. On the other hand, one of the things that annoys you more on a rewatch is all the little foreshadowing things they do or storylines/character arcs they tease and set up. They seem exciting when you first watch it, "ooh where is this going to go?", but when you know where it does (or doesn't in some instances) go, you're just kind of annoyed at the setup.
