I'm surprised he didn't just send all the workers home for a couple days to rest and unwind while he dug into shit. Would get them all back into something resembling working shape while boosting morale and endearing him to them. And in the meantime he could have had Nakajima doing physical searches of the workspaces of anyone who had sent up red flags for incriminating evidence that wouldn't show up on the computers while David setup spying programs on every computer to get a better sense of what everyone was doing and have a fresh record of any workflows of people he might fire in the coming weeks. Plus have stuff in place to detect, track, and undo any of this firmware update bs that's going on. And by the time the workers come back he should at least have some good news for them to give them hope for the future. Basically do the company equivalent of turning the machine off and then back on in safe-mode.

The question now becomes, who is the one carrying out the sabotage? Kang Tao and Arasaka are the prime suspects as they are best positioned to take the company over, yet if it was either of them they should have made a move by now. That arranged marriage should not have been allowed to lapse so easily if Arasaka was behind this.
