How A Medieval Saint Gave Us Science & Occultism - Albertus Magnus

How did a Medieval Saint Gave Us Science & Occultism? Medieval Christianity is often remembered as a threat to both the development of Science and Magic - this is a gross oversimplification. In Albertus Magnus, we see Science, Religion and Occultism wonderfully combined. Let's dive into the works of and attributed to Albert the Great, especially in his interactions with the world of the Occult, to better understand the rise of Christian Occultism and the Scientific Method. From magic necromancy, talisman production, to astrology and alchemy Albertus Magnus could very well be the patron saint of Occultists - let's explore how! Recommended Readings:

Ultimately I'm not entirely surprised about any leanings on occult 'hidden' forces: is not the Church's doctrine of transubstantiation exactly that? Juxtaposed to the Lutheran Doctrine of 'God is Present' in the communion with the Catholic transubstantiation wherein the Eucharist IS God tracks right along with the occult.

Excellent episode...as always! ;) Thank you for it! I would love to be at office hours today, but I won't be able to make it, alas...I have to make calls to reschedule a crucial medical appointment that the providers themselves canceled on me earlier this week, and after waiting for them to call all day yesterday (after I called them twice), I am having to call again. It's for that minor thing of "not going blind" that I'm a big fan of, alas... :(

Wow, this episode was so good. I knew virtually nothing about this guy, except having heard his name here and there. Another dood who talked about the stars as intelligences, which Joseph Smith would later talk about as a core piece of his own esoteric theosophy.
