Introduction to Merkavah Mysticism - 7a of X - The Four that Entered the Garden

Welcome to our Summer seminar on Merkavah Mysticism Hundreds of years prior to the rise of the Kabbalah, shaman-like rabbinic mystics were described as having made the terrifying and awe-inspiring descent into the Divine Palaces. There they met with and bypassed fearsome angels with magical codes, gained control over angelic powers, became transformed into beings of fire, gained vast wisdom and mounted the very throne of G!d to carefully measure the vast dimensions of the divine body. These experiences and their praxes are recorded in about 50 manuscripts now known as the Hekhalot (lit. palaces) literature. Outside of specialists this late-classical form of (a)(de)scent mysticism is poorly understood and little appreciated. In this course, we will explore the foundations, social origins, myth-world, praxes and the afterlife of Merkavah Mysticism. Consider Supporting Esoterica! Philosophers on Witchcraft! As a Witch myself, that's a topic of personal interest to me. I know my practice is just a stitched together, messy quilt of what we have left from our pre-Christian beliefs with a bit of alchemy thrown in, if the wormwood topic is any indication, but I'm really curious how much of the modern neo-pagan Witchcraft practices are likely just middle fingers to the propaganda. "If you're going to accuse us of it anyway, we'll wear it like a badge of pride." (I wish we had more information on my paternal ancestors' practices that didn't have Christianity baked into it, but there's not much to be found there. I'm sure there's more on my maternal side, since we're Celtic, but a lot of the pre-Christian Norse information's lost. Trying to research what's left mostly results in me bumping up against Those People who desecrated our sacred symbols with their hate. It makes me die inside.) I would love one of the Lilith incantation bowls; my feminist icon lady needs more display pieces in my home. (My home's display space disagrees with me. Too bad.) Sadly, that'd be tough for me to purchase. :/ The government may pay me to not work anymore- the judge awarded me my case insultingly fast -but they don't pay me very much for it. You mentioned payment plans on the books, I don't suppose that could apply to the incantation bowls, even if the discount can't?

Hullo Seekers! Just finished up my ThursNite study/Descent session and, as promised in our last class: here’s a playlist. Started out spinning some John Zorn compositions for guitar performed by some wonderful players including Marc Ribot (of Tom Waits collab). Not as strident as some of Zorn’s work; it made a nice pairing with “Sar Torah.” Masada Guitars: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nd3zv5UzGCabFJj_Br5FR0cmoCuln98T8&si=dF1dlVezK-OEUwdL And here’s another from Zorn’s wonderful Tzadik label by guitar demiurge Gary Lucas (of Captain Beefheart and Jeff Buckley collab). This one’s more full-on and worked well with the dizzying depths of “Ma'aseh Merkavah.” Street of Lost Brothers https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mg-ehWlZ8zW9wXduq2S4qEIb5ySZJYp48&si=GxBFDoIJ6HZKv26T And here are a few other CD’s which I could find no links for but may be streamable in some fashion. They deepened the initial experience of “Zutarti” and “Rabbati” for me.
