Dr J, thanks for passing my business card to Morgan. Was able to close a deal with him last night. Im just breaking out in sweats —thinking about all these books! And on that ”439” drawing… My favorite in catalog would be the===>> “1658-The complete Medical, Surgical, Alchemical and Magical Works of Paracelsus”

The weird dichotomy of condemnation and preservation of witchcraft in Del Rio's "Disquisitionum magicarum libri sex" makes me want to learn latin just to understand the descriptions of rituals and spells. As exaggerated as they may be it would an amazing glimpse into witchcraft. Also the binding reminds me of the musical sheet binding of one of the books of the last batch 🎼

My favorite was/is the 1563 - Paracelsus on the Three-Fold Fundamentals of Alchemy ; I hope it has found a new home where someone will do the investment to help it survive the next centuries. After all we are more custodians than just owners of such items.

The Pico della Mirandola is my favorite though utterly beyond my means.

Good luck to all. If you are picking names out of a hat, and pick mine. Pick again, I'm an old man. I do down load free books on the Internet Archive and Anna's Archive so have enough to read.

1757 - Banned Book of Exorcism with Magic and Amulets. I’ve worked with people who once thought exorcism was required for a patient. Reaching the point of spiritual care consult and a priest arriving for initial evaluation. Had it gone through, it would have been interesting to meet the visiting exorcist and, in a deadpan way, ensure that no amulets of too magical a sort were to be used.

Well said. And until/unless people get around to discovering all the editions and hopefully scanning them, it’s maybe a final crucial crux of custodianship.

1563 - Paracelsus on the Three-Fold Fundamentals of Alchemy I would learn German just to read an authentic Paracelsus print

I love the history of medicine so most paracelsus books I find fascinating as they give insight in that regard, as such I think alchemcial medicine by him takes the cake for me.

Thank you for the automatic entry ! Even if I never get a chance to flip through that amazing catalog, we’re still pretty dang lucky to hear all the lessons through your lens. Thanks again for what you do!
