Hello toth, tauther and drenn! Please enjoy episode 2 of Play to Find Out, the Actual Play show where I torture my friends (and myself) by playing notorious old TTRPGs from history.

Even better, the trove of images containing excerpts from the Jorune book has been updated for episode 2! Please enjoy seeing what beagres, woffens, bronth, tarros and ramians look like. If you dare.

Once again, if you're not sure how to get access to your personal Quinns Quest Patreon podcast RSS feed, you can find instructions right here.

This is our first Patreon-exclusive episode (the first of very many), so PLEASE don't share your private podcast feed outside of the Patreon. That said, we have put up a preview of S1E2 on the public PTFO podcast feed, so if you'd like to share the show among your friends, here are the links to do that for Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Pocket Casts, Amazon Music and Castbox.

And if you're impatiently waiting for the video reviews of Quinns Quest season 2? Don't worry. PTFO is in no way delaying those videos, it's just a short intermission for you guys to enjoy while we finish production.

Haha I love how quickly this descended into confusion and rage over the names of a pub.

John Nemo

Ramians?!?! 🙀😬

Zachary Grafman

I went to the trove of images. I am not glad.

What's wrong with the ToI? More Trove, I say!

Holy fuckety fuck. I liked episode 1, but this episode blew my brains across the floor and then licked them up. The fucking magic in Every Single NPC interaction??? From short exchanges with random bearfolk to the wolf captain I would die for?? I would love a video or article at some point about your journey from "whats his name? Uuuhhhhhhhh Quintin" to being able to do the high level prose and presentation that honestly surpasses most other Actual Plays I've listened to. Or, to use your own dirty metaphor from that video- how you went from a casual s*x-enjoyer to a professional p*rnographer 🤣

M W

Uh. Sorry, struck a slightly weird tone with that one😬 - chalk it up to me being shooketh by the quality of this episode 😅

Keith Houston

The art does have a Brian Froud vibe

Drew

I will be testing the tarro method of stealing. Will report back

This is great! I'm loving this world lol and the story. Props to Rob and Emily for being really curious and putting a lot of work in to keep up with the weird worldbuilding and terminology.

Kira S

Loved catching up on these two episodes while on a massive cross-country roadtrip. All three of you have made jumping into this brand new universe and system really intriguing!

These are SO GOOD. I generally can't listen to actual plays as I just find most tables that aren't mine.....annoying. These are the perfect length and obviously you have a Real Good Thing at your table, which I'm sure you're aware of.

Laila Blake

You are a seriously skilled DM; it's so enjoyable to listen to and I'm sure to play in. And this world is absolutely bonkers hilarious and Rob and Emily are awesome at playing into that. Great insight into a strange old game, and (damn it) I can't say I'm not a bit jealous. I've been trying to run a Dolmenwood campaign and I found myself really struggling to maintain the fun verisimilitude of that world while also going with a ruleset that was different to what my players knew and less fun for them than what they are used to.

JustDave

Skyrealms is so deeply intriguing, a Fantasy World created by somebody who seems deeply creative. Love this little window into something I've never even heard about before!

Ok so this is delightful and I cannot really articulate why. I don't usually like actual plays. More please :)

Christine Pizan

Priorities! You can't be galavanting off to a skyrealm when you have a reprobate roofying thriddle on the loose.... they could strike again at any moment...

James O'Dwyer

I now feel like it was PERFECTLY FINE to be unnecessarily mean to the Thriddle now.

My wife wants a shirt that says "Isho* (it's a kind of menstrual magic)"

Longwing

"Some of them are double sided!" legitimately got a laugh out of me.

This is amazing, thanks so much gang! Can we have a photos folder or something for those of us wanting to see the original artwork, yet unable to spell the unpronouncable names of creatures from beyond the veil? :)

Spencer Finch

The amnesia roofie reveal actually had me reeling, that's so funny

MZ

I nearly did a spit take at 'this is Boris Vallejo's Dark Crystal,' thank you kindly Rob

Adam Yojimbo

This series is so good!!!

WillS

Love the playing old RPG aspect. Here's to you Quinn.

Alexander Daly

Re-listening and I’m struck by a.) how good Quinns is at running his NPCs in a way that’s convincing in-world and hilarious, and b.) how perfect the soundtrack is. It’s what I imagine someone in the 80s would have written. Is the soundtrack available anywhere?
