Hey folks!

This is a quick post to say that for the next couple of weeks I'll be away from my desk as I visit the United States of America.

Why? Well, Like Dr. Frankenstein, I have stitched together several thingies that have no business being stitched together, and have spent the last week full of terror at the unholy events I have set in motion.

The first stop of the tour is Auburn university in Alabama, which has invited me to try and teach some young people... whatever it is that I've learned in writing about games for twenty years. You can actually watch the interview I did with the college radio to advertise my visit, which may be of interest if you want to see me realise in real time that when I started this work you had to do it for paper magazines because the internet wasn't fully-formed yet, at which point I age about 400 years. Anyway, if you live in the vicinity and want to come to the conversation that's happening with me onstage, that's something that you can do!

The second stop is one where some of you could actually see me! It's PAX Unplugged, my favourite tabletop convention, which happens in Philadelphia. I'm doing a signing as well as hosting two stage shows. If you can't make the con, don't fret! I'm hoping to record both shows and put them online.

After the con my brain will be steamed ham, but literally the moment the convention centre closes I fly to Los Angeles to guest on a couple of shows. One of them is Adventuring Academy with Brennan Lee Mulligan! If you'd like to submit a question for him to grill me with, you can actually do so right here.

It's wild to think that I'll be in the Dimension 20 dome in just a couple of weeks. It is, however, nauseating knowledge that I intend to use the platform to tell the Dropout audience that they should stop playing D&D.

Wish me luck! So many people are gonna be like "Who the fuck is this guy! Why is he eating obscure snacks with Brennan!" Oh God!

All of that said, while Dr. Frankenstein is mostly remembered for his hubris, we must not forget he was also a doctor, and like a doctor I wouldn't dare leave my charges without proper care.

If everything goes to plan, while I'm away you'll be able to enjoy the next episode of Quinns Quest, PLUS the accompanying Patreon video, PLUS the new season finale of PTFO.

Will everything go to plan? That's for you suckers to find out. It's time for me to pack my bags.

Sincerely,

Doctor Quinns

Can't wait to see how the dimension 20 discussion goes! Good luck.

J K

Hell yeah boss , you’re gonna smash it, have a great time 🤙

Doc Webb

Awesome! I’m running a booth at PAXU (the Goodman Games booth), so I probably won’t get a chance to come to your shows or signings, but I hope you enjoy the con!

Zachary Somogyi

Excited for PAX, all the more so because of your events!

Matteo Mangioni

Can't wait for the Dimension 20 appearance, go tell those paying Dropout members that their favourite game is actually mid! I'm sure it'll go well

Moustachecat13

WOOOOO QUINNS ON DROPOUT!!!! Also hell yeah you should tell them to stop play D&D and try other stuff. You changed my Tabletop Career forever once I clicked on your video and now I can’t even think of going back to boring D&D. I really can’t wait to see what waves your Adventuring Academy interview will make in the Tabletop Community and to see what Brennan says in return!!! So excited!

Tyler Hildebran

So hype for the Quinns appearance in the Dome!

Tomas Hickman

Good luck! Safe travels :)

Folks near Auburn AL can consult Aub.ie/phgames for details of the public parts of Quinns’ visit. His Blood on the Clocktower run is sold out, but his public conversation is not limited (unless something VERY WEIRD happens)

Looking forward to your return to PAXU in my hometown! SU&SD is why I attended the very first one (& where i got to shake your hand)... this upcoming PAX I'm playing in one megagame and helping to run another (another SU&SD inspiration), and where my fave annual feature is the indie RPG "Games On Demand" -- you may wish to check it out, Quinns, if you have the time. Safe travels, hope i can catch your panels, and thank you for the light you shine on our hobby.

Antonio Ruiz

That sounds like quite the adventure! Have fun!

SuccessfulGeek

Ive always wanted to go to PaxU, I need to make it happen next year.

Max Brannan

Quinns and Mulligan together is, for me, is the ttrpg equivalent of the "Predator" handclasp meme.

Matt Wallis

Quinns on Dropout with BLeeM is unreal. Looking forward to it!

Only Quinns’ Blood on the Clocktower game that night is sold out — the talk is open to all and it shouldn’t be listed as sold out (we don’t have restriction on the talk, just keeping tabs in case we need to shift venue)

ada

Ooooh I don't live too far from where the talk is happening in Alabama and I definitely won't be making it to PAXU, lol. The tickets for the event says sold out, but is that just for the game you're running after? Or is it for the talk as well? If the talk is open without any registration I'd love to still make it!

klaxon

Yaaay for bringing non-D&D to my fellow rabid Dropout fans! Congrats on Adventuring Academy and these many successes. Godspeed! 🫡

Philip Ivarsson

Oh man Mr.QQuest himself on Dropout? Very exciting. Barely hovering over the excitement that is for the next episode of this season of QQuest

Jon Pio

Is Quinns comparing himself to Oscar Isaacs now?

GC

That interview was /superb/ and I have high hopes for the Adventuring Academy episode. Travel safe!

Blizzic

“…I intend to use the platform to tell the Dropout audience that they should stop playing D&D.” Our strongest soldier rides to war. Take up your swords, fellow countrymen! Today, we strike a mighty blow against the dragon (game)!

Eddie

Amazing! I will be at PAXU and will at least be able to go to the panel. Also, I live in LA and if you need good food recs, I am happy to channel my inner Jonathon Gold and oblige.

Jay B

Really considering driving almost 200 miles to see him at that totally obscure "University in Alabama"

AngryPanda

Good luck on your travels! May you brave the New World and our increasingly savage ways.

Spencer St. James

I have never been more excited for an Adventuring Academy ep. Did he invite you after the roundtable you did a few weeks ago?

Em

No — it’s been in the works since I met Quinns and Brennan (separately) in person in 2024. The Talk of the Table was set up as a dry run.

Em

Everyone pray for Quinns as he gets an earful for 90 miles on THAT phrase so he doesn’t stumble into a football incident!

Yancey

Crazy that you're going to be so close to me. I may try to see if I can catch you on UAB's campus.

qquest

I'm going to Auburn! Not Alabama! Want to make that very clear!

Alexander

This is awesome news. Build those bridges across the pond and spread the joy of ttrpgs other than D&D Dr Quinns!

Randy May

Are you able to give details on the Auburn visit? Is it something non-students can attend?

DuneArchitect

While you’re in Philadelphia you should stop by Runehammer and chat with the man Hankerin Fernale! Creator of Crown & Skull and Index RPG if somehow those have slipped under your radar

Jacob LaBruzzo

Have fun! Hopefully our government is opened back up so you don't get travel delays 🤞

Em

Yes — the public event is next Tuesday at 4 PM, Aub.ie/phgames will have details (the only ticketed part is Quinns running Blood on the Clocktower later that evening)

Em

Shoutout to Rae Nawrocki at WEGL college radio here at Auburn who has been killing it with her Type Speaks interviews this fall (she also spoke to Meguey Baker before and during her visit to Auburn last month)

Charles Berries

Glad you’re discussing the space D&D takes up in the hobby! From the first hour of the recent podcast episode you both were in alongside Dr. Friedman, I suspect Brennan Lee Mulligan will undoubtedly provide challenging insights on the topic that will surely make the talk interesting. Given that however, make sure to take care of yourself Quinns! Now, I’m a fan of yours because of the fiery passion you have in this hobby and in your work. The problem with fiery passions is that it can be so bright that one’s blinded to the flames. I hope that you will stay safe and healthy in the coming weeks!

Maciej Tauer

Have fun, don't burn out.

Benj

We should not forget that Victor did not finish university. INSPIRATIONAL! And on the subject of telling d20's audience to play other games: GOOD! I love Brennan's liberational, revolutionary passion, yet he's so often still shackled to the most corporate game of all. The more he can be freed, the more he can help others.

Ennis Jackson

Absolutely gutted to not attend the talk at Auburn U, it's like 3.5 hours away... alas. Happy to see many cool projects in the works, though! I hope all the travel treats you well; may your flights arrive on time and traffic part for the journey!

John

Two hours here! Unfortunately, needs must and I guess getting a handle on my chronic migraines was higher priority.

Collin Hancock

It’s amazing (although sensible) that all my favorite reviewers, thinkers, and creators have collided this year. First with Colville, now Mulligan? Very excellent!
