I think trying to specialize into work with materials would be worth it only with innate ability leaning in that direction. (Or however that's called, like Remi's looting.) Getting and training skills for material manipulation sounds promising, but it would take lots of slots and severely limit what a person could achieve outside of their niche. I think such sacrifice is possible only with support from major factions and with that synergy to make it worth it. I noticed Remi didn't include his looting in the skills explanation. It's a long shot, but if it could be trained a bit, he could try getting other metals worth the same amount. For example not gold, but mana enhanced gold or something, if that makes sense. If that isn't possible, I don't see him making much headway with those super materials.
