Celebrating One Year of Turning the Page!!! (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

Before the update releases as usual tomorrow, we just wanted to take a moment on the eve of Turning the Page’s anniversary to acknowledge and thank all of you. Every one of you reading this and anybody who has supported us in the past and in the future. Thank you.

To mark the occasion, here is some trivia that some of you may find interesting. Even though this is the anniversary of our release, the idea for Turning the Page was conceived of back in December 2020. Back then the original story was quite different. It was meant to be a short little piece called “Diary of a Cheating Teacher.” (Quite an original title, we know...)

At that point it wasn’t even a visual novel, but instead a piece of prose (in diary form, if you could believe that). It was never really intended to be shared publicly. It was just a little personal writing project for the fun of it. Things were similar, but different. Initially, Sophie Page was called Norah Bailey, Felix was called Mike and Zack was called James. There was a Danielle-like character called Lydia, but she was overall quite different. Amy, Nate, Jonah and Brooks didn’t exist at all.

It got about a quarter-finished before finally being re-envisioned as a visual novel, around Fall of 2021. We spent a long time on pre-production, probably longer than we should’ve. One of many lessons we’ve learned over this period.

But despite the tough lessons, working on TtP has also been very rewarding. Creatively speaking, working on a story this long and complex has been a real treasure, as well as an exciting challenge. It has brought us unprecedented success and has given us hope for the future. In fact, just this past weekend, we decided on some significant elements concerning our next project. We won’t be revealing details on that one for quite a while yet, so don’t ask… Still, it’s exciting!

Before leaving you, we want to share something that we don’t believe we’ve shared publicly before, just a little something to commemorate the occasion:

That is the first sketch that Operae ever drew of Sophie. As you can see, she has changed a bit since then… and I’m sure there are some more changes coming in her future... 😋
