<AUTHOR NOTE OVER>

If Jake had faced Yrelstromoz without Dragonsbane Poison, he would have been far less confident in his victory. Not necessarily because he believed she was more powerful than him, but because he doubted his ability to outlast a True Dragon with an insane mana pool and the ability to heal herself.

Getting enough toxins into his opponent’s system had taken a bit longer than he’d hoped for, but now that it kicked into effect, Jake instantly felt it, and from the looks of it, so did Yrelstromoz.

Her healing magic did work to mend her claw, but it now came with consequences as the Dragonsbane was stimulated by her heavy use of mana and dealt damage proportional to the magic she used.

Jake watched Yrelstromoz’s eyes open wide as she stared at him in confusion.

“What have you- “

She didn’t even have time to finish the thought as Jake wasn’t going to waste an opportunity like this. He launched a quick Arcane Powershot, inflicting even more damage as the dragon was sent flying back from the impact. Several more arrows followed his first one, with two more striking as Yrelstromoz was still trying to figure out what was happening to her, but eventually she mustered a response.

Powerful barriers of light appeared, blocking both arrows… and once more dealt damage to her as the Dragonsbane Poison was stimulated. This caused Yrelstromoz to hesitate, summoning more barriers as she tried to fly away, but Jake’s arrows curved and followed, striking her in the wings, tearing through the webbing easily due to the lack of scales.

Through Sense of the Malefic Viper, Jake felt Yrelstromoz try to figure out what kind of toxin she’d been inflicted with, a task that wouldn’t prove easy. While Jake hadn’t purposefully tried to hide the properties of the poison, it was still of epic rarity and thus possessed high-tier concepts and energies, making it difficult to see through.

This split focus on identifying the poison proved counterintuitive, as it allowed Jake to land even more arrows, thereby increasing the dose. Yrelstromoz was unfocused and even seemed to panic a little as she encountered a situation she didn’t quite grasp.

Her lack of experience in real combat was truly showing. Jake doubted she’d ever truly been pushed in a fight, at least not since reaching B-grade. Even if she had been pushed, Jake reckoned there was a good chance it had been in safe sparring matches where death wasn’t on the table. Something very different from her current predicament, as Jake very much aimed to slay her. A fact she somehow only now seemed to be grasping fully.

Pushing his advantage, Jake already began to set up for the finishing blow now, knowing it was best to be prepared. Within his quiver, he was weaving together a powerful Protean Arrow, where he planned for Eternal Hunger to serve as the arrowhead when the time came.

Perhaps already preparing for the kill now seemed premature, but based on Yrelstromoz’s mental state and total lack of proper responses to Jake’s constant bombardment of arrows, this fight would end far sooner than he’d first thought possible.

Yrelstromoz struggled in vain as she tried to dodge and swipe away arrows, her healing magic targeting the Dragonsbane but finding itself unable to do much. Dragonsbane Poison was naturally resistant to a dragon’s attempt to cleanse itself of it, and Jake’s variant even meant that using mana to get rid of it meant she was hurting rather than helping herself. If she had truly understood the poison or been a more talented healer, it would have been a different story. Evidently, Yrelstromoz was neither.

Jake landed dozens of arrows one after another, all of them coated with even more Dragonsbane as the two of them moved across the surface of the planet. The dragon tried to get away, even using her movement skill occasionally, something he felt didn’t even have a high mana cost, yet Yrelstromoz hesitated. That’s when Jake realized something else.

She wasn’t just avoiding using her magic because of the damage it would do. While the damage was noticeable, it wasn’t at a level where she would suddenly kill herself if she used magic like normal. It was just another source of damage from Jake that made healing herself inefficient. Yet Yrelstromoz barely used any magic, and Jake believed the explanation was found with something he hadn’t even considered a factor:

Pain.

Someone like Jake didn’t find himself affected by pain. He felt it, sure, and he wasn’t particularly a fan of it, but it wasn’t going to stop or even slow him down. The same was true for all other geniuses Jake usually fought with. Most monsters who’d grown up and reached their current station through constant combat were no strangers to the sensation and had long become desensitized.

Yrelstromoz was another case entirely. She was like a flower grown in a greenhouse, having never experienced the harsh reality of nature. Now that she suddenly felt herself confronted with it, her response was less than ideal.

In her defense, the pain from something like Dragonsbane Poison was on a whole other level compared to regular wounds. It was the kind of poison that tore through both body and soul, causing immense anguish, and Jake could totally understand why her initial response was to stop doing the thing that caused her pain. However, it was clearly the wrong choice and only pushed her further towards death.

Jake found it a little disappointing and hoped she had more to show him. However, with the way things were going and her increasing level of panic, he was starting to question if his first dragon hunt would really end this anticlimactically.

--

“She’s truly the bottom of the barrel… or at least close to it,” the Primordial of Karma sighed, shaking his head as he watched the recording – one that was only a few seconds behind the live feed to avoid Jake noticing another observer.

“Oh, for sure,” the Viper nodded in full agreement. “She has the stats, body, and skills of a dragon, but not the mind of one. True Dragons are dangerous not only due to their innate power, but because of their incredible ability to utilize that power. This only becomes truer when they’re focused on magic like her.”

“It certainly appears she’s a weakling among the strong,” Eversmile agreed.

“However…” Vilas began.

“She’s still a True Dragon,” Eversmile finished his sentence and smiled.

“Indeed, she is,” the snake god said, knowing there was no way she would fall this easily. Her heritage and Lineage simply wouldn’t allow her to.

--

The arrows just kept coming. Yrelstromoz tried to fend them off, but no matter what she tried, she just couldn’t. They didn’t do a lot of damage, but each of them inflicted more of that horrible poison that seemed to have invaded everywhere. She tried to get rid of the poison, but it didn’t work, and all she did was cause more debilitating pain, making her hesitate.

Yrelstromoz had easily handled all the other poisons the Chosen of the Malefic Viper inflicted on her, but this one was different. It was incredibly powerful, and no matter how she approached it, all she received was more pain.

She knew that this couldn’t continue, but she wasn’t sure what to do. Her mind was spinning as she got hit by arrow after arrow, with no good options coming to mind. Any response she made would only result in more pain. A pain unlike anything she’d ever felt before, and while the arrows did also hurt, it was nothing compared to when she made the poison flare up.

At least it didn’t seem to do much when she wasn’t actively using mana, and when she used very cheap spells or skills, the pain was manageable, but she still wanted to avoid it if at all possible.

All she could do was run, hoping the human would stop chasing her and give up. His boosting skill was incredibly powerful, which should also mean it had a limited duration or serious backlash once dispelled, so maybe if she just kept running long enough, he would be forced to also retreat.

However, as time passed, and she continued to flee, the human never let up. In fact, he only seemed to be growing in momentum, every arrow hurting a little more than the one before.

That’s when a thought struck Yrelstromoz… one that she hadn’t even considered a possible reality before now.

I could lose.

Losing to a C-grade seemed impossible. Like a fantasy that would never materialize. The gap between the grades was too big, and her innate resistance should mean she would outlast anything a C-grade could throw at her before running out of resources. Yet that didn’t seem to be the case now. Yrelstromoz was losing… and if she was losing…

I could die.

Death… a concept Yrelstromoz had resigned herself to, but only at the hands of time itself. She had an entire life ahead of her. It hadn’t been that long since she had become a B-grade, so Yrelstromoz should have so many years left of her lifespan. So many years of enjoying life and reveling in freedom from her Dragonflight and anyone else that dared intrude on her life.

Yet now, the realization that such a future wouldn’t happen began to creep into her mind. She realized that this wasn’t just a C-grade trying to bite off more than he could chew. Realized that she was actually being preyed upon by a hunter capable of actually slaying a True Dragon.

Yrelstromoz panicked even more internally. She didn’t want to experience this pain; she didn’t want to fight this human, but more than anything, she didn’t want to die. She wanted to live… and the only way to make that possible was to slay the human who was trying to take her life.

When she realized this, her mind calmed. The pain faded. Yrelstromoz felt her heartbeat slow down, and from deep within herself, something truly ancient surfaced. Primeval knowledge, instincts she’d long abandoned, the memories of training given to mold her into someone worthy of being called a True Dragon.

As this calmness spread throughout her body, so did her senses spread outwards. Yrelstromoz instinctively acknowledged the human as a legitimate threat to her life and now knew that it was kill or be killed. Facing such a reality, something as trivial as pain no longer even entered her mind, as for the first time in Yrelstromoz’s life, she would truly fight, putting everything on the line to prove her very existence as a True Dragon.

--

Jake felt the shift immediately. It was as if a switch had suddenly been flipped, and Yrelstromoz’s entire demeanor changed. She went from cowardly running away while pathetically trying to swipe away his arrows to suddenly stopping entirely.

Three arrows were already in flight as she stopped, but none of them would ever get the chance to hit.

Yrelstromoz’s eyes had an odd gleam as her body was enveloped with energy, and she let out a deafening roar infused with power. The resulting shockwave knocked away all of Jake’s arrows and made the ground erupt as rock was sent flying into the air.

Jake summoned a barrier to block the shockwave, but still found himself pushed back momentarily. With caution, he watched as Yrelstromoz spread her wings wide while roaring, her scales glowing with light as sparks reminiscent of electricity jumped between her body parts and even into the surrounding air.

With Sense of the Malefic Viper, Jake felt the toxins within her energy activate, and his Dragonsbane was stimulated, but the True Dragon no longer seemed to let the pain affect her.

Lowering her wings and stopping her roar, Jake’s eyes met Yrelstromoz’s, and at that moment, he knew what he was looking at was no longer the same arrogant and cowardly dragon he’d seen as a disappointment only a few seconds ago.

He could sense a palpable shift in the atmosphere, as if the very air had thickened with ancient power. The oppressive aura of a True Dragon embracing something that seemed to come from deep within was unlike anything Jake had ever encountered. His instincts screamed at him to move with utmost caution; gone was the hesitant prey, replaced by a predator radiating pure, unrestrained might.

“Rise.”

A single word echoed out from the True Dragon, and as she spoke, the world responded. The ground that was also torn up by her roar shot into the air and toward Jake, obscuring his vision and taking him by surprise.

In the very next moment, the rising earth was cut in two as a thin beam of condensed light cut through it. Jake had barely managed to bend backward as it passed, only able to watch it sweep by right in front of his nose. Even then, he felt the rush of heat on his face, and all the rock around him cut perfectly.

The beam had come from an orb condensed between Yrelstromoz’s horns, and before she had a chance to fire it again, Jake unleashed Pride once more and pushed away all the surrounding rock.

“Implode.”

The mountain-sized mass of rock around him was instantly forced back towards Jake as if his body had become a black hole sucking them in. Focusing on Pride, Jake also uttered a word of his own to resist.

“Disperse!”

His Pride of the Malefic Viper-charged Words of Power sought to push away the stone seeking to crush and immobilize Jake, but all he managed to do was slow down their approach slightly, allowing Jake to shoot out a beam of destructive arcane energy to carve himself a path out of the massive sea of rocks.

Having experienced this failure, Jake was now sure what she was doing.

It was another famous ability of True Dragons that Jake hadn’t even been sure Yrelstromoz was capable of. She was using Words of Power, amplified by a potent skill known as Draconic Language that he knew many True Dragons had, though it wasn’t actually all of them. It was said to require a powerful mind and will to use the Draconic Language skill, so for Yrelstromoz to be capable of displaying it with such might… something in her mentality had definitely shifted.

One other thing was also certain: she was no longer apprehensive about using magic.

After dodging out of the impending tomb of stone, Jake had to dodge another cutting laser he felt would be a terrible thing to get hit by. Returning fire, Jake released several arrows that curved in unpredictable patterns, forcing Yrelstromoz to block them with barriers of her own.

He also saw now that she had started healing some of her wounds, primarily the ones that led to gaps in her scales, something Jake had gladly taken advantage of before she had her mental awakening.

The entire battle had shifted in an instant, but some things hadn’t changed. Yrelstromoz had still taken noticeable damage, but perhaps most importantly, she had a lot of Dragonsbane Poison in her system. Too much for her to feasibly cure herself of.

Jake knew it, and from the looks of it, so did she. They also both knew that without liberal usage of mana, which would result in the Mana Allergy effect, she didn’t stand a chance. Her only choice was to simply soldier through the damage and hope her magic would do more to Jake than she did to herself.

As for actually getting rid of the poison, Jake believed they had both reached the same conclusion once again. While she couldn’t heal it away, one surefire way to weaken the poison was to kill the person who had inflicted it. With his death, she would also be allowed to enter meditation and allow the poison to go away on its own over time.

Their thoughts aligned, Jake met the eyes of Yrelstromoz again. Their common conclusion was clear: she would have to kill Jake before the Dragonsbane killed her, while Jake had to do everything to hasten her death before he found himself overwhelmed by her magic.

A scenario that seemed to favor Jake significantly… but as he felt the mana for thousands of kilometers in all directions resonate with the True Dragon’s authority over magic, and watched the sky be filled with a hundred thousand glowing orbs of light, it quickly became clear this most certainly wouldn’t be an easy task.

NGL I was getting scared this was going to be a disappointing right but it's really heating up now.

Am I the only one who's immersion is broken by the way too obvious setup in this dragon killing side quest? - Yrelstromoz featured in the story for far too short of a time to actually bother to care about her - After the whole thing with Villy a week ago I can't really say I care on an emotional level that she killed idk how many people - The fact that she needed to be arrogant and then arrogant some more so that Jake could do enough damage so that when the true power of a dragon is shown it makes sense why he can still win.. - Nothing really happening for 4 chapters up to her powering up to be basically still considered weak - I can't think of a high enough stake here that I resonate with. Feels like the first D grade Jake killed with Sylphy in the sky but with extra chapters IDK it feels way too much on the nose, like Zog deciding ok, a dragon needs to be killed and then not coming up with a good way to weave that into the story which imo might be a first

Michael mann

Oooooh love to see the fight or flight reflex kick in!

Thank God it's not Friday. A true fight is on the way.

Jack

The draconic language is really cool because Yrel is probably speaking words of power that only other dragons can understand, but because Jake has the cheat skill Endless Tongues of the Myriad Races, he can understand her

Daniel Brian

The fight WAS feeling a little too easy..

djthomp

If Yrel survives this I have to wonder if that shift in mentality would last and make her take her path more seriously. Not that her surviving to find out is particularly likely.

Dragon fighting is a bit cliche in the first place, I like that Zog is having fun with it - building it up as a novelty, then jumping straight in without taking the character development too seriously. It’s a dragon fight! No need to overthink it

Psyck0

Jake clearly needs an axe shaped object

Daniel Francis

Quick correction "summoning more arrows" > "summoning more barriers" thanks

Rick Delallata

Let's go, give Jake a proper fight. Force him to use trump cards to survive

Bjarne Hansen

Will Jake need to release his bloodline, once more? That is still his major trrump card.

KingGoomba

I wish Jake talked more smack, let his patron influence him a bit and just talk shit

Levi

Comeon zoggy please don't save Jake casting horizons edge for a final paragraph Friday cliff-hanger. I'll spend my entire weekend waiting to see what happens.

Bruno Alencar

the 1st phase was an arrogant warrior, the 2nd was a fearful dragon... and the 3rd is a dragon in draconic fury... if there is a 4th I guess it will be a Dragon with oblivion magic... and if there is a 5th I have no doubt that I have an undead dragon (the 5th could also be a dragon running for its life and Jake "hunting it to the horizon")

David

Stop! You mustn't!!! Your pitiful pleas only serve to help him gain experience to level his cliffhanger skill to even greater heights!!!

Devillelouch

Thank you for the chapter. There was a bit too much repetition and stating the obvious in this chapter. Next chapter is going to be the dragon getting the advantage followed by event horizon. Maybe this was the 1st of her two best skills and event horizon is tomorrow.

Nexas Aurelias

Welp my guess was wrong. Let the fight begin!

Takoda Heitz

I hope so, but we don’t know how bad the backlash will be without the system there to recover him. It would be left to villy or Jake himself. Even in a challenge dungeon his sphere got murky.

Jan

Anyone else getting the feeling, that this fight will also provide some insights into words of power? Especially as the First Sage used them to that huge extent in Jake’s vision, I assume they will play a more important role going forward

IntenseSushi

Tftc odds on horizons edge being the cliffhanger?

Bobo

Thank you

Rewdan

The fight just got really intense 🫣

Ty Cooper

Woo. Tftc!

If Jake's bloodline enters the fight, I sure hope Villy doesn't allow Neversmile to see that

Alexander C Hyde

Jake watched (her Yrelstromoz’s) eyes open wide and stared at him. (One or the other, but not both.)

Rewdan

Sure but we’re being set up for a massive cliffhanger on Friday 😱😨

Alexander C Hyde

This caused Yrelstromoz to hesitate, summoning more (barriers)arrows as she tried to fly away, but Jake’s arrows curved and followed, striking her in the wings, tearing through the webbing easily due to the lack of scales.

Takoda Heitz

I gotta be honest. I don’t agree. I fucking love Eversmile. Hands down the most interesting character in my book. I’m always on the edge of my seat when he’s involved in something.

David Hall

Well my 4 part ship has definitely sunk. As we in the patrons say, "Thank God It's Not Friday". More fight for Thursdays then Jake pops Event Horizon for the Friday dreaded cliff, Long may it loom

Loststar7

Thanks again for a great chapter. Happy Wednesday everyone.

DaMule

TFTC Z, you do amazing fight sequences and are a master at the end and flow of combat

mucky 12

I was honestly worried the dragon would give up and completely ruin the fun of the fight for jake like that other B grade. It'd be funny if it ever gets out into the multiverse that if you surrender during a fight against Jake he'll probably let you live since hes mostly fighting for the thrill more than anything else. It'd make him like a boogeyman of sorts. He might one shot you before you ever realize youre in danger. If you do manage to survive the first attack, you still might survive if you surrender and give up lol

Wselby64

Im have a feeling jake is gunna get an upgrade to pride by the end of this fight, it seems appropriate to upgrade it against a dragon and there has been quite abit of talk about arrogance and it seems like zog is setting it for a upgrade

Ben Cox

Dreaded is right. I had thought yesterday that this might spill over into next week, but now I'm sure that it will on the bright side I am super interested to see her aunt try to interfere in the battle and hopefully see Jake use Invocation of the Malefic Viper to tell her to get bent in his Villy cosplay. Tyftc

Wselby64

I thought it might be an upgrade to pride as they seem pretty linked but my it's just the words

Wen L.

The word Primeavel showed up in context to Yrel's instinct and abilities. Is Jake's innate Harbinger of Primeaval ability doing something to her. Yrel isn't ideal as a creation like Sylphie, Sandy, Vesperia, or Jasper, but a Primal Origin Dragon would be cool down the line if Jake ever experiments with this.

SirbBrownFluffles

Glad to see Yrelstromoz is indeed a true dragon. I doubt she'll try to run now, she's finally realized it's do or die

KenTX325

I almost feel sorry for her. At the same time I want Jake to get these records. I’m starting to really hate the boosting skill that puts Jake on a timer. It seems the best strategy would be to keep distance and let the Dragonsbane work. Hopefully she won’t get another power up and full heal.

brjenness

villy AND smiley watching...possible ambush by mysterious force odds increase.

Tommy

Yah this battle gonna roll into next week I reckon. Still, the pacing is on point so it’s a fun ride! TFTC

ABTelford

Fun chpt!

InfernoDroid

So, does this mean that the Dovakin is cannon in this world? I mean, we have dragon shouts

Jeryd Greer

Let’s gooo!! So amped

Nathan Holliday

So every dragon has this lesser bloodline that reacts a lot like Jake’s when confronted with death turning even a weak coward into a badass? Ok but I’m still annoyed that the only reason this is even a fight is because she is a true dragon. Apparently every dragon has a become a badass out of nowhere card. I’m not actually mad about it but it’s still annoying.

Burkes

I’m keen to finally see event horizon be used at the very end of tomorrow’s chapter.

SmokeJam

Fus-ro-dah!

Joken

Reading through the slow build up of this fight I am asking myself: - Jake fighting a dragon was supposed to be epic, even more epic than him fighting EllHakan The build up is currently so slow that I am convinced there will be an unexpected turn of events. - Will she unleash powers beyond anything we have seen so far causing Jake to suddenly improve some skills or needing his bloodline to get into action? - Will someone else interfere, maybe her aunt cuts in when the fight turns against Yrel? - Will Yrel’s personality have a sudden change? - Will there be some very interesting dialogue happening? - Will some dragon lore be shared previously unknown to Jake? I don’t know, but I am sure something unexpected will happen as the peak of this arch.

SmokeJam

I like your widely deliberate definition of the word hero. Ain't no heros here, just a murderer and his dragon victim, but I like the sentiment :D

Nathan Holliday

I think he will upgrade pride to allow him to use draconic speech! That’s way to cool not to use oneself!

Luke Baldini

You're forgetting she was hand picked by the viper. He wanted a true challenge for Jake and not someone too weak. With him being a god it wouldn't surprise me if he knew she would awaken like this.

BumAssBumAss

Hoping for the dragon to be strong enough to push Jake for a skill upgrade. Not sure what would be good here though. Scales of the Malefic Viper might be good to deal with the light attack. I'm more hoping Jake's archery evolves to legendary here since he stated he wasn't done working on it when he was with Artemis

Fyrtue

I've seen some comments about the pacing and nature of this fight and I guess I have a different view of things than others. We've been introduced to the concept that higher tiers of beings exist with dragons being one at the pinnacle. We also know that Jakes bloodline has made him a naturally superior version of human so I'm looking at this as more of an exposition of what it truly means to be a 'higher' life form possibly right before Jake gets to that level himself upon his B grade evolution. I really like the way this chapter played into that with her pseudo-awakening and I can't help but look forward to what that might mean for Jake and his bloodline coming up.

Jayce Sul

What rank do you think Jake naturally is? He wasn't even a C grade, and since Sylphie, his creation, is a natural B grade I might be inclined to say A grade, but knowing Jake's cheatcode bloodline, I guess it's probably S grade. Is there a possibility that he was just naturally born to be a god, so no evolution quests period? Like he's already had several steps to divinity already by opening the concept gate or whatever so as soon as he reaches peak S grade he just slips right into godhood? Lol

Takoda Heitz

This will happen regardless because he will just kill a god, even if he’s already reached his normal grade. His God evolution quest will no doubt be to kill a god and he will no doubt do it earlier on his path than anyone ever has.

Exodus Uno

Well her personality did just suddenly change. It just happened

DirePants

This is what I was I was expecting. Some sort of realization leading to Yrel getting serious and adding another chapter to the battle. She’s definitely going to be loosing next chapter- Jake is going to get pushed pretty far. But the true end of it will be at the top of Friday’s chapter I predict. The cliffhanger is the real mystery here. Will she use the coin to summon her aunt? Will it end with an anime style “here’s my story” moment as she dies? lol. It hasn’t been mentioned that Jake has consumed any potions health or otherwise as of yet so I think we’ll see him be forced to do that too. There’s still room for something unpredictable to happen with Jake as well, still doubt it’ll be a skill upgrade but he’d deserve one simply from the quality of records from being a not-quite- peak-C-Grade taking down a B-Grade True Dragon. I feel like we haven’t actually seen him use any of the new cards he’s gotten since Ydrassil, like his bow for instance. Didn’t it have some upgraded abilities or am I thinking of a different story?? Any loving this battle. It’s the kind of battle that’s lesson. I think Jake will realize how truly powerful a dragon is and of course that he only got this far because of the arrogance and ignorance of Yrel that allowed him to pump her full of bane before she got serious. It’s teaching him to take advantage of different weaknesses- a hunter should have many different ways of hunting to truly be called the Apex Hunter. One who hunts those at the top. Because Jake really is more like a fighter than a hunter. But as he’s gaining a taste for stronger prey he won’t always be able to use his normal approach.

John Durrett

tyftc. She might be bottom of the barrel, but flotsam also rises to the top. ;)

John Durrett

Now that she's awakened her True Dragon heritage, I expect at least 2-3 more chapters showing the powers of a TD.

John Durrett

Oh that would quite seriously kick Jakes bloodline over the edge if they interfered in his Hunt. Even to help him thinking it would gain favor would piss off Pride. The best bag and grab would be at the conclusion of the fight when he's at his weakest. Still, the moment Villy felt interference in his viewing - but him and smiley would be on the spot in a heart beat.

Carl Never

It says the poison was epic but i thought with the increase in potency the rarity had gone down. Like its a shit dragons bane so its comon but its more powerful than a hemotoxin at epic

John Durrett

Pity maybe but sorry wouldn't enter for me since shes a brazen serial killer. Boosting seems more fair play to me. If there was no limit, it would be always on and therefor no longer boosting but the new baseline. Like a runner pouring in their soul to burn away muscles, tendons and life force to reach the finish line first - putting their life on the line is a testament of willpower and drive. As noted in this chapter, the Dragonbane will expire of its own accord if left alone and able to meditate

TeeyTeey

the original Dragonsbane was shit. we never saw him make the ones he’s using now

Keion

What would be mind blowing is killing her then using that same dragon heart that lured her to resurrect her now that’s some villy plan making skills

brjenness

i'm still thinking about why villy is sharing the fight with smiley...suspicious zoggy.

Tamathon

Oh man, Fridays ending chapter is going to be legit.

Ryan McCasland

This all but confirms Jake will get an upgrade to pride. He learned from the child to expand his influence defensively, now he will learn from a true dragon how to harness the offensive potential

Kraede Epoch

Aren't they still looking for the people who attacked Jake et al in the Void? I assumed that was why Eversmile was involved...

Hotep Saxis

I think the dragon is going to teach Jake a valuable lesson now. My guess is he is going to have to escape this fight and come back for her later when he is actually peak C grade.

Cliffhanger with a skill upgrade details withholding till monday.

His new fancy bow fires healing waves over him when he shoots an arrow. All these potshots he fires heals him like a EH doe when landing hits.

Anyone wondering what the Tribes will give Jake for killing the dragon that killed their c-grade chosen?

SmokeJam

Cliffhanger guess: Not Event Horizon. That skill got so "hyped" by now, it will be a fight finisher. Tomorrow will be dragon going super-flashlight and the cliff will be an impending skill upgrade.

SmokeJam

The way she walked into that Dragonbane poison trap, she cannot let him escape. She can't heal herself unless she kills him first. So the option of running has well and truly passed for both. With her using her proper power, I doubt Jake could even escape. She has seen his Shadow already, so triggering stealth again is nigh impossible.

TFTC :) Sorry about the spun/span thing. Since I learned to read "to spin" has been a verb like "to begin" or "to spring". Begin/begun/began, spring/sprung/sprang, and similarly spin/spun/span. I usually try not to comment on americanized spellings (like missings "u"s in colour and armour and "z" instead of "s" in amercanised) Though it hurts my heart, I will try and keep myself in check in future. Glad Yrels taking it seriously now. We still have 7 more chapters to go, after all :) Suggested edits: "so many years *ahead of her*. " repeted phrasing from the sentence before. Suggest "remaining" instead "person who had *infected* it. " pretty sure this should be "inflicted" "death before he *would find* himself overwhelmed" usual phrasing would be "found" instead.

Killing a god *within their divine realm* sounds like a perfect “end of S-grade” hunt for Jake.

Rob Lyon

No he just needs to knock one of her horns off and use that

Lemonsqueezy

I think it will be more of killing a god outside their realm. God's are nearly invincible in their own realm because they make all of the rules of the realm. You have to be very powerful to do it. I think the ultimate fight will be what Jake wanted at the very beginning of the story. He wants to fight Villas, probably not to the death but close to it.

Bullet hell time baby

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Fyrtue

I could see potential for a relentless hunt upgrade too. It's been quite a while since he got that one and Yrel pointed out how he was relentless in this chapter.

Clint

Does anyone else think Jake might end up needing to use Jake Juice to finish this fight? True Dragons really are OP, and she does have a grade advantage.

Alejandro Piña

This chapter was a treat, nice and long with different points of view

If it makes you feel better, british english is an inconsistent mess, and American english is overall truer to the etymology of the origin and a more consistent language. For example, the u in colour was just added in french when it became a word in that language, but didn't exist in the original latin.

ThatGuy

Ah the fight finally begins

Asher Mack

Meh, I think a couple of moments and a few eternal shadows should suffice. He'll be a wreck by the end though

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter
