I feel like both Villy and Jake got scammed by his skill since neither of them could use the items he made. I guess Villy can study it, the system knows he absolutely adores interesting and unique stuff but ultimately neither of them seem to have any real use for Jake’s items so a mythical fragment he can use for alchemy traded for items he cant use before they become unstable definitely seems like a net gain even if he could have potentially gotten more if his skill was higher than mythical rank

I had some suspicions about why she was too busy to visit previously, would be interesting if she's already breaking through the next wall and shows up as a newbie Empyrean goddess. I wonder what the item Villy left could be though, the bite of Yip maybe? Surely Villy would need to supervise Jake using that but maybe that's for after the visitor.

Records and research I reckon. Villy just wasted the lavender as a demo but if he really wanted to, I bet he could have learned way more about the Primeval energy. And any records to do with Primeval stuff is always valuable. The skill doesn't care about what Villy intends to do with the bargained items, just what they are potentially worth.

I like Jake doing alchemy. It would be cool to see him go on a field trip to gather materials or explore new things, instead of being stuck in the lab. (Maybe less combat focused but more exploration/ sight seeing).

So I wanted to pop on with a few ideas on what skills Jake could upgrade next with his lesser primeval origin energy and I also wanted to share something i realized recently. So for starters the skills, I think that not only will Jake upgrade his malefic viper skills with lesser primeval origin energy in an attempt to move them towards his legacy, but I also think he's gonna upgrade some of his class skills with it. Primarily power shot, protean arrow, and his primal hunter skills. How he does this, no idea. But the thing I realized recently, (no idea if someone already called this out, I just wanted to share my realization), I was recently listening to book 13 on audible and got to the part where William described his visit to elhakans planet and how he was given assistance with this by some mysterious person who then got killed. I immediately thought that this was perhaps the first, if not one of the first hints of the secret godly organization that's after Jake. Wanting to help him in anyway they can, it also furthering their own goals. Of course the kidnapping attempt was likely an opportunity they thought they could pounce on to try and nab him to nurture his bloodline until he reached a level he could assist them with whatever they want. Just thought it was interesting and wanted to share

Remember the value of the item is relative to who is bargaining for it, the value for villy for the first time is insanely more because its new even to a primordial. After hes seen it, realised he cant use it it still holds value but probably not sacred anymore.

Im guessing the item is another akashic awakening thing and I recon we will be getting another boots upgrade witch is always fun, I also predict that the boots when upgraded will adapt to him and stop giving him any stats and maybe lean more into the other aspects, may lead to some developments with the book aswell

The following statement is in no way intended to be a negative one. I think, realistically, with the pacing of the story, the rest of primal hunter series might take place with Jake in B grade. This isn't a bad thing, in many ways it's a good thing. It keeps a massive chunk of the multiverse outside of Jake's league, which is a good thing imo. It still opens up most of the universe to Jake while allowing many new groups and gods to interact with him. It also allows Zog the ability to slowly level Jake up to keep the sense of progression going. And many others. I think this may be the grade that the remainder of the series takes place in just do to how much longer each grade is supposed to take, and how Zog is willing to spend IRL years in each grade. Caveat: the final book could take place with Jake in early A grade, but it just being a finally book were he just gets to flex and kill a god. In fact the whole book might just be his push to A grade and then killing the god

So this has all been pretty interesting, but I have to admit I’m over it. This has been a LONG upgrade process. I feel the details didn’t really offer me much and felt more like a focus on Jakes inner thoughts. Normal for Zog but perhaps a little over done this time around. Perhaps it’s because we haven’t gotten any traction on the main story. The big questions right now I feel are less about his Primal energy and special abilities, and more about the Exalted Prima event and the faction that tried to kidnap him. While I’m sure the kidnapping attempt was due to his abilities, I don’t think the level of in-depth exposition we got about the abilities will really add anything. Granted that IS a great place to hide gems of secrets and hints. While the energy and bloodline etc is a big mystery, that’s definitely going to be late stage reveal, possibly with the biggest partial reveal happening when Jake finally confronts the faction that tried to kidnap him. When it comes to the Primal energy I’m more interested in wondering if the Primal energy will have any battle applications. Because we still know so little about it, it’s hard to speculate with confidence how it would work. I do have ideas but they’re not directions that I think Zog would go. For instance Jake learns to incorporate the energy into himself- similar to a boosting skill like he does with Arcane Energy -or more unlikely- a “form change skill”- think anime inspired. Whatever it is, I’m sure it’s going to incorporate Jake’s path as a Hunter and the evolving nature of that as a concept. And the last thing I need him to do is eat the damn Yore Jerky! 😂😂 I’ve been super curious about that for the longest time! The implications of it! The implications of Villy’s abilities too! Eat it Jake!! Eat it!!!

Yeah I’d like the alchemy more if we got to see different parts of the process. We’ve seen him do this before, just shorter. While I do like that we see him thinking more and going less on instinct, as it shows his growth and how instinct and intent together are more powerful than either alone. I’d also like to see how alchemy has changed for him over time. We get a lot of details on his thoughts but not the process which would be more interesting filler in my opinion.

While I agree that sometimes pacing can be a little “eh” that’s just par for the course with web serials. Every plot point has felt very satisfying, and the actual progression itself has been super consistent and well executed. I absolutely love the story so far, and am excited to see where else it goes! Honestly, I downright love The Primal Hunter. Things are explained in a way it all makes sense, and such unimaginable reality becomes imaginable. And it's damn cool.
