Hey Everyone,

Hope you all had a great weekend. I've been getting better sleep this week, and have the next batch of chapters ready. Personally, I don't think this is an evil cliffhanger, but you can be the judge of that. :)

I've really been enjoying the discussions on the Discord spoiler chat, so thanks for all the theorycraft that's going on. Love reading your comments and messages, too.

Question for all of you by the way. I'm going to be talking to my cover artist for Book 4 soon, so I wanted to ask... what scene resonates most with you all? I've a few ideas myself, but wanted to see what you thought. :)

Anyway, I hope you like these chapters. Let me know what you think!

Super early drop but I appreciate it. Help me get through the last couple hours of my work shift. Thanks :)

ELITE_TK

So nice to wake up to this, then I see the talk of cliffhangers....still great though.

Thomas Todd

Thanks for the chapter! I'm sort of glad that the Arkwright needs more work, like he's created something amazing but it's good to see that he still has miles to go before he's a true crafter, really hammers home why he's nowhere near Doc Ameye even though h has the better ability

Thomas Todd

For the cover having him standing there with the sniper on his shoulder would be cool

Naotsugu97

Really enjoyed the chapters. Cheers!

Alteron

Thanks for the chapters, really enjoyed them

I think I'd want a low draw heal ability weave and then build it in to all my gear with cores. So if I passed out it would keep going. When perfect turned off during Kaisen, that was a bit of a let down. But it points out a flaw in his skill emulations which could be easy solved with gear. That knew skil that strengthens you as you kill has a lot a merit, something of a kill-stat-cultivation skill. He's heading into a dungeon, so if it was me I'd have that skill up and running.

Pickled Rick

With what has happened in these chapters I am really hoping the twist is that he is going to be dumped in portal or something dangerous by Shade. Its a cliche sure but I think with a certain gear ability when he walks out at some point during the next book he can evolve his skill master ability and then return to Quest Academy and do something completely insane. Added benefit is the deactivated suit would look just like pyjamas so if they don't have an analyser they wouldn't know they were leaving him in their with OP legendary gear.

Nomad

So glad I joined. Gives me something to look forward to each week.

What scene? Sal in the essence storm at the gala trying to make Fabi even more of a badass

Dawn Zeleznik

Maybe he and his father/mother sparring would be a good cover. Loved the chapters. Thank you.

Kerradeph

I feel like one of the scenes on the mezzanine would probably be good considering how central that is to so much of the book. I think him working on all the different blueprints for Arkwright would be a good one. Showing Arkwright built would probably be a bit of a spoiler, but you could possibly tease it depending on what you show on the blueprints. I'm not sure what the views are like, but possibly having the view looking over his shoulder out into the rest of the station might be a good shot. The train car reveal is in the first few chapters so spoiling that a bit doesn't seem too bad.

Nate

The Argento auction building for the cover maybe?or the Gala scene with the heroes helping Fabi

Tom Maxey

I have enjoyed this book. It’s an amazing continuation of the series. The parents showing Sal how to fight was fun and looking forward to the father and son dungeon run! For the cover how about the dramatic scene when everyone was trying to save Fabi? You would have Sophia, Upgrade, Doc, Sal, etc all gathered around flaring power? Or Sal and Fabi in front of the Arkwright. Sophia reveals her power in that scene so very dramatic.

Chris Hoopes

Love the chapters. Everything is flowing really well. There were a few missing words and spots where 2 or 3 words are out of order. Considering how much of this book is about Fabi and the Archwrite it really seems only fitting that they be on the cover. Archwright might be a spoiler but Fabi absolutely belongs on the cover. Either Sals workshop or the Gala are the most iconic locations in the book.

C

Happy Monday!

Paul Tuson

Thanks for the drop. Arkwright is great and all but will Sal start losing his edge if he is not actually crafting himself.

Darnell Maxwell

If were keeping the theme of Sal in a new environment with the cover mainly focusing on him. I'd go with Sal standing at a table with Fabi at the Gala. Or Sal in his new battle outfit while staring at the Arkwright.

Gabriel Albino

Another good batch! Nice explanation about the suit being kind of useless for the common hero and hunter. Looking forward to see Petro in real action! I hope that Sal become more proactive and start using all of his potential!!

Kenneth Darlin

The cover has to be the scene where they fix Fabi’s power and rebuild the machine at the same time!

Michelle Ray

What a wonderful way to wake up and start my day/week. Thank you for the chapters! I really look forward to reading your updates every week. I'm loving Arkwright but I really hope Sal gets back to creating with his own two hands. I love the scenes where he's crafting or working with weaves. Looking forward to seeing the dungeon with his father that'll be so awesome.

Benjamin Hartmann

For the cover: I thought immediately of the sparing session with his father and since it will be named legacy?! it kinda fits. Really like the chapters with one caveat though. He drank the whole bottle… gave me the impression that he did not learn at all… I see the reason why but I can’t get my head around why he would do this. Mmhh… maybe he switched it with a water bottle he prepared cause he knows he will get dehydrated? I don’t know.. maybe it is just me 🙈 Still great though 👍

Nate

With Sal remapping his essence gates, by moving his gates around his body does this mean he will be able to use physical abilities with skill master more safely? or have a mis read the entire situation? (can any one help me here?).

Chris Hoopes

How about Sal walking up to Fabi and Upgrade at the Gala with the tablet visible in his hands. That would even allow for Barry to be partially visible as he was walking with him. The focus should be Fabi and Upgrade. It was hinted at so hard in the last book and it's the one moment everyone knew was coming at the end of boook three. Four characters is alot so Sal and Barry would act to lead the viewers eye to the ladies.

Darnell Maxwell

1) Petro smiled warmly at Sal. “You'll understand when you're a father.” Sal's parents are the best. 2) I swear to Ogras, Salvatore Argento I will jump into this book and DUCKTAPE THAT VISOR TO YOUR HEAD IF I HAVE TO! STOP FORGETTING IT IN YOUR WORKSHOP! Not only did you leave it behind during the training session but you left it despite going on a dungeon run with your dad? Leaving it now I'm gonna chalk it up to you wanting the arkwright to work while you're out. And the machine needs your visor close to use analysis and several abilities. But why aren't you wearing it during your parents training! You only have a few weeks before leaving for Quest Academy and they can't go their to train you! At least if you have the visor on it can record their movements and probably make you a training hologram to keep practicing at Quest! 3) Sal's Parents Are The Best! 4) Glad to see Sal finally growing a pair when it comes to leecher dungeons. I don't care if by the end of the series Sal still gets nervous about entering portals. Or will only step foot in a prowler dungeon solo if he's wearing full mythic gear. By the end of this book he should be able to finish a leecher dungeon bear handed. They aren't that tough. 5) SAL'S! PARENTS! ARE! THE! BEST!

Kerradeph

The visor is what is powering the majority of the research Arkwright is doing. He either takes it with him and leaves Arkwright heavily limited or he leaves it behind allowing Arkwright to do its thing. What would he get from the tracker while training?

Kerradeph

They were kind of being forced to move around. He's still not a body manipulator so he wouldn't be able to replicate their abilities anyways and he has a far less damaging method of replicating skills.

Darnell Maxwell

If it can see the transference ability and come up with a new way to make Sal completely remap his gates. I'm positive it can watch Sal's parents spar for 10 minutes. And perfectly learn the Silver's martial art. Pun intended. So that when Sal goes back to school. It can help him learn and practice it the same way it maps out optimal paths in dungeons.

gideon ferrier

Same I think that arkwright has become a better crafter then him. It was a project to help his parents with supplies for their auctions and not it acting like it is one of the ttop ten carfters in the world. Just feed it time a materials and it will eventually be better then the doc itself

Frilas Gilneas

Don't confuse abilities and gear attributes. The 'Assimilate' is an inherent attribute of Leecher cores and not a skill itself.

Sherry Walles

just a few questions. Is Sal going to be like every greedy schmuck out there and completely blow off what's his name (Alchemist guy at the workshop, Alex?)? When are his team coming to visit? did he completely forget the invitations he issued? Wasn't he supposed to work on Anthony and Jack's weaves? Last, but not least, has he gone insane from the pain of opening his gates? What happened to the uber organized make a list of your lists guy? Where's the whiteboard to lay out and organize his tasks and projects?

Frilas Gilneas

Very nice chapters! They feel much better paced than the previous ones, which seemed like a lot of 'skip this, skip that.' The pacing this time made it easier to follow along, and I appreciated how you provided reasonable explanations for the suit's malfunctions. That said, I heavily recommend editing the original part for the book slightly where Sal first puts on the suit. Without adjustments, it won’t make sense that, when Sal initially tries to check the suit’s stats, he only sees an unrelated window highlighting the essence cost and the option to switch suits, whereas Fabi can suddenly see everything instantly. A bit more consistency here would really help. The same goes for Skill Master. It makes sense that Sal's abilities improve with remapping, but Skill Master was already enhanced so much during the gala through the replicator essence that he can now create two abilities at once with it. If that improvement only counts as one level, then what’s going to come from this huge jump, letting him use ten abilities at the same time? Yes, a bit of an exaggeration here, and I was hoping he might use Prestige’s Catalyst ability for meditating now that he can use two weaves with Skill Master, especially given how much impact even the replicator essence alone had. For the cover, my first thought was immediately his crafting base, specifically the train he’s living in, as a background focus. It’s where he spends most of his time and also teases the meeting with Locomotive. The highlight should be Sal working on the Arkwright BPs while showing his tablet on the side with one of Fabi’s courses running on it, similar to the approach on the cover of Book 1. for me that is one of the scens that just fit without actually including any spoilers.

Robyn Davis

What if you had his parents dancing with the high flips - it would make you wonder how you got to that stage.

crazyray

I agree, that his parents, the revelation, the showdown at the ball, would be a fitting theme.

Robert Smart

Was interesting to see the drawbacks of the adaptive suit. Mind you I don’t quite get why he’s not improving the adaptive suit. Even if it just starts with the pattern for the macclemark for now.

jason dark

Cover needs to be Sal and Fabi getting into the beater flying car.

Frilas Gilneas

Alex refuses to sell sal potions at the moment (his current supply came from vanesa) till he shows hes usful to sal and the expenses for the real stuff aside from coffee is worlds apart we talking spending all of sals money for a days worth or less. its actually the second time he made plans with evrebody before he started building on arkwright and then again after the gala XD he cant work on weaves at the moment without the machine and he is forbiden to just directly do anything with skill master outside the orb skil maping. (quest overlooked it at the moment but i doubt he gonna let him start playing with peoples weaves as he wants). last one is really simple sal is a typical adhd character. he never actualy followed the plans he made, hes always only working on the thing thats right infront of him right now and his whole healty life cycle was gone the moment he didnt folow it 1 time. this is like base definition of adhd lifestyle :)

Nate

I do hope he follows through for Alex at some point. maybe make a machine that uses Royces ability to reproduce his ingredients.

Ron Blondeau

Great chapters Brian. I want to see more of Fabi and Sal in a dungeon.

keoki

Thanks for chapters. My vote for the cover art would be in the Gala scene, where all the heroes were trying to save Fabi.

Dungeonborn

Arkwright could be teased with purple light shining on the railing of the mezzanine.

Dungeonborn

I think that won’t be that much of a problem because you have to remember that Arkwright is still a holiday project and I think that Sal will have a lot of stuff to learn in his next semester when he returns to the academy.

Dungeonborn

I think it’s in line with him being a bit scatterbrained sometimes.

Dungeonborn

Though I’d like to know if he could enable his power structure to mimic body manipulation and if so what that would require.

Lisa Johnson

What about Sal in his new armor for the cover? Love the chapters. I am really looking forward to binge rereading the whole serial again:)

Lumpenhans

Barry in his costume at the gala, literally screams cover art

Benjamin Hartmann

One thing to be scatterbrained other thing to ignore the session with Vanessa and the Parcours next day😂🙈

Benjamin Hartmann

That is not true, the visor is an input device and helps Sal with blueprints and stuff but it does not power Arcwright.

Benjamin Hartmann

I don’t think it gets enough information to learn it perfectly.. but I agree with you, he should just wear it.

Jonathan Robichaux

Him looking at over the arkwright, lit up with purple light. It's one of his legacies without giving away to much on a cover and is simply and intriguing as to what it is

Frilas Gilneas

It doesn’t power Arkwright, but Arkwright is using the visor's skills. If you remove the visor, Cypher/Analysis and all other skills from the visor will become unavailable.

Sean Shivers

It feels like divinity has been written out of the story... perfunctory appearance at the ball, doesnt come to the after party, she doesnt want to join his guild... sal doesnt even think of inviting her to go dungeon diving.

Kerradeph

What do you mean she doesn't come to the afterparty? There was a whole bit where she was absolutely plastered and was terrified that everyone at the afterparty was judging her for it. And then the conversation about the portal with the normal friend group. Most of them live in different regions so popping over to see eachother likely isn't a simple thing and that's why we're primarily seeing Fabi because they're essentially neighbours.

Kerradeph

I find it frustrating when the cover of the book is a major spoiler to stuff that happens around the conclusion of the book. We know about the Gala so showing stuff from that would be fine. And we are introduced to the railway room early on so that wouldn't be a bad setting. Showing the armour, weapons, or Arkwright is spoiling stuff that happens later in the book.

Kerradeph

Okay, I'd love to see that one. No real spoilers to it and it'd be a neat and simple design for the cover.

Eldest Martial Sister

It would be cool to see Sal in his new auction house uniform or all the quest students dressed up at the hunter gala thing

Jason Reynolds

It is the number of gates that helps skill master. With every gate he opened, his thread becomes thicker and longer, so more thread = more skills.

Jason Reynolds

I want to see Sal and Fabi looking at a blue print ont the screen of Arkwright, with the purple core lighting up their faces, but the view is from inside of Arkwright so it leaves the mystery of what is causing the glow.

Frilas Gilneas

It was already clarified in Book 3 that the skill weaves/threads are unrelated to the number of gates. When he first started to map skill weaves. it was specificly said during the gate breaking at the gala that the thing strengthening the skill master’s weaves is the replicator essence prestige channeled into him.

TJ Lombardi

I'd love for you to keep writing the story you want to share with us. I love being surprised with your creativity and am so happy to just be along for the journey you're taking us on.
