Hey Everyone,

So, first of all, I'd like to apologise that it's only two chapters. For those that are new here, I tend to start off slow and build up as time goes on. It took me a while to find the rhythm of the story, and I was agonising over using another Jez chapter to recap the last book, but it felt jarring and too soon to jump there from the Paradox transport.

Let me know what you think of these. It took me a while because I was working through the logic and lore of Prime interacting with certain data from the last book, and something speculated from way back in Book 2.

Additionally, we're going to start the ball rolling with the Character Tier rewards. After I post this up, I'll be sending the link out to everyone on the associated tiers to collect your suggestions for characters. Students will be first with the others to follow later in the evening.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. :)

Brian

Minor Edit: There was some inconsistencies in the Prime reporting in Chapter 2. I've reuploaded it with the corrections.

Smiling Cat

Thank you for the chapters ~

Garrett

I’ve been waiting for this day🙌🏼

Kiwi

Thank you Brian

Theunfluffyone

Thanks for the chapters! Excited for the city building arc!

Ron Blondeau

Great start. Thanks for the chapters. I didn't think Erika would join the MG anyway. She is too much of a loner unless she gets real cozy with Barry.

crewband1701

Best snow day read i have had in the last year while stuck at work.

BoonePharm

I actually forgot it was Monday until just now 😂. Kids have had so many days off for the awful weather it keeps feeling like a weekend.

Stu

Bloody hell, Erika gets to go into Athena before Seth gets Administered? C'mon, even 2nd class guildies still have rights

Sitsume

Eeee! That was really good as a start to this new book! First off, even though I totally was kind of hoping for the first chapter to be with Jez, I absolutely agree it wouldn’t have made sense, at least not with how the last book ended. I love this take a lot. Erica has really grown in the last few books and I like how her and Sal are getting along a lot better and she is even laughing?!?! Crazy! But in a good way. I also loved the talk with Petro and the testing Alex is doing with his elixirs lol. Definitely always want more chapters, but still a very good and strong start. I look forward to how the remapping and meetings go. Especially with Arc and the ideas Sal comes up with to get their interest in making the buildings to house the people from the cruises. Thank you so very much for these two chapters. Can’t wait till next week!

ShaunB

Eyuhhgkk more Erika🤢. The price for new chapters is high this time😁

Chris Pickard

dear god did sal just flirt with erica? lol great start to the new book love it

Chris Bagby

Loved it! I have always loved honesty of Erika. I can see her changing and I love the possibility!

Fireheart

Really enjoying the start. In my opinion, it works well. It gives a very clear direction while not stopping the flow of the story. Thank you.

Thomas Todd

Thanks for the chapters!

Bill Hilliard

Thank you! I feel so much better having my Monday chapters again! I love where this story is going. So many exciting things to come in this book. I am very happy Erika has come around too.

Ali Sha

Yay so happy we are back!

Justin

Not sure if anyone has officially welcomed you back from vacation yet, but welcome back! Great start to Book 7 and I can't wait for Sal to make a secretary drone just to troll Erika and Upgrade!

Jeremy

Sal and Erica sitting in a tree, k-I-s-s-I-n-g …

Charles Gillentine

Ohhhh yyeeeaaahhhh, that's the good stuff.

Jeff Sicard

Woohoo! Back in the saddle!

Scott

“Only two chapters” … you, Sir, may have no idea how much joy you bring. Been a bit of an intense week in my neck o’ the woods. Having this world to immerse oneself is a great balm. Thank you!

Caleb Kerei

I feel like this line was pointed at readers more than anything "Don't try looking for a pattern, there isn't one."

Luke G

Thanks very much for these. These two chapters were way more polished than the first couple from the draft of the last book. I know it doesn't matter too much, since they are only drafts, but it is still cool to see. It seems like the right choice to start with them getting off the carrier. It still allows as much recap as you need without feeling forced or formulaic. It didn't feel like there was a lot of recap there but it would be easy to add more if you feel it is required later. It was also really cool to see Sal was specifically thinking about how the refugees could be set up to provide for themselves. This was something that really needed to be addressed to feel realistic. On the constructive feedback side of things: Upgrade's shift in attitude towards Erika feels jarring. Begging her to join the guild after a single mission where they didn't really interact much and happily talking about Athena to her, which is still generally kept under wraps, doesn't make a lot of sense considering Erika hasn't done much to earn that sort of trust, respect and fondness. If this changes because the final version of the last book has her doing something big, then disregard. Also, there is a bit of a missed opportunity for Sal to do a grand reveal of Athena to Erika instead of just explaining it in a bored and slightly boring way. She also doesn't seem to have any reaction the the rest of the machinery in the room with Athena which she doesn't know about. Personally, I enjoy seeing people get impressed by the cool stuff so it feels like a bit of a waste not having it.

Atredie

Erika is totally going to become a Calamity... and not what I expected, I thought her second weave included Judgement and low Empathy.

Colm Greany

TYFTC. I know you mention using jez as the recap but I can't help but imagine the meeting with Eric and vector if he explained everything he has done.

John Duncan

You know, you are a devious man to only give 2 chapters. And also, I like the way Sal and Erica are interacting with each other. At least she ain't a bitch anymore. But, I think somebody is going to get jealous when she starts talking with Sal more. Great chapters though. Wish for more.

nicoraven

Please never change Alex 😂

Daniel

I really liked the transition you wrote. You are right that jumping into Jez would have made us miss the humor of the characters decompressing after the contract. I think this was very well done in your chapters. Thanks for being back and making Mondays good again

Cary Serack

You have to remember Upgrades #1 job is to harass Sal. I dont think she was beimg overly friendly as much as she was pokimg Sal. I thought it was a great exchange. And after battle, when tensions relax, people are on a bit of a Adrenaline high...

Perversity

Really enjoyed the chapters, was a nice break from the angst I felt at the outing chapters. But this was a lot of fun, and I like how Erika is growing as a character, but it makes me laugh that she's so adamant and refuses to even consider the mythic guild as a place to work. I do disagree with Sal on his thoughts about wanting to focus in and keep something as HIS project. Dude is already stretched thin, if he gets something set up so only he can do it, then he's the bottleneck, since he won't be able to sit there full time doing what ever needs to be done, so he'd be the weak point. One of the biggest failures young leaders make is thinking that they need to be hands on with everything. That is not the case, a leader needs to show that they lead, and that they are not afraid of hard work, that they will get out and do the things no one likes doing. But to punish other people by forcing yourself into a position that limits the growth of other people, is also a weakness, and I think Sal knows this since he decided to keep this to himself, I imagine that he will get a very painful butt chewing from a few people (mentors, parents, quest, coach.)..... But, off that. Glad to hear that you had a good vacation and recharged your mind, the last book was a bit of a doozy, and sounded like it took a lot out of you, so hopefully this next book won't be quite so tough on you.

Dutch Palmer

You have an inconsistency in Erika's print out in the 'Estimated Final Result' - [Combination Weave] [Factor 5: Absolute Rule] [Grade 34-48] [Progression Track Updated] should be Factor 6... Potential Combination Weave [Absolute Rule] [Factor 5: Authority] and [Factor 5: Mind Override] combine into [Factor 6: Absolute Rule]

Zeletavska

This was brought up in the Discord and he has since fixed it. I think the new version should be uploaded soon.

Joseph Kozachek

Loved these chapters but a little unsettled by the Erica progression. Ah the tension. And these chapters were so good would have to say that they may have been the great ending to book 6 and allowed for a time jump for the start of 7

Dawn Zeleznik

I found the chapters enjoyable. Definitely better now Erika is acting like a human.

Prachi

Loved the chapters. Excited to see what Erica becomes and the awesome plans Sal comes up with for the reconstruction project

5haun

Thank you for the chapters! Erika is so much better now. Looking forward to seeing her become that one woman army Can’t wait until Sal really gets going on the Darwin village/tower - building town/village is such a natural extension of the crafting component of the story, I’m super excited to see where this goes.

shackcat

TYFC, I really enjoy the 'Alex' dialogue.

ts25679

With Sal's financial backing propping up the crafting department, will QA finally start separating into two different educational institutions? They built QA as an alternative to the military academy's and mandatory draft, yet the HB & GA were disappointed it wasn't run like a military academy; weaponizing the curriculum against students who didn't opt for combat roles. If they were going to do that then they might as well have had QA act as a premier military college and partnered it up with a technical college. That way everyone's expectations would be firmly established before the students enrolled.

ts25679

Will QA finally have a class discussing team roles this semester? They're entirely man made modes of thought outlining job roles in teams, but all the characters talk about them as if they are inherent. Perhaps they could explain why the role designation system has taken over, when it is readily apparent that individuals can fulfil multiple roles at a time? At the moment it's a class/caste system nobody seems to question. In the tower Marcus asks if Erika and Sal are body modifiers and Sal replies with their role designations, as if they had any baring on whether they were body modifiers or not. Can body modifiers not act as medics or crafters despite their abilities? Is it mandated somewhere that they need to use there abilities as offence, defence or controllers? People were using team roles to select future partners in previous volume's, why does this designation hold so much sway over their role in society and social spheres?

ts25679

I'm still really hoping that Erika's powers have been influencing her in a deleterious way. Perhaps she's been subconsciously picking up on the demons hatred of humanity? I just can't reconcile second semester Erika with first semester Erika. The sadistic delight she got from hurting and controlling people, the malice and casual cruelty she displayed was so much more than just "being a bitch". The since the restraining amulet caused such a profound shift it's the only thing that makes sense.

ts25679

I think of Gallant as Brian's Hulk, accept his abilities can also be triggered positively rather than just anger. Plenty of people treat the Hulk as a hero despite his volatile nature and desire for isolation, yet Gallant is managing to restrain his ability and is still engaging with others and striving to become a hero. It's a shame the main cast seem to be writing him off after one battle frenzy; especially in light of Erika's redemption arch.

ts25679

When the team built the legendary sniper rifle it had cleanse on it, if I remember correctly, so I was wondering if Sal could make a cleanser to replace the washers and dryers? Perhaps open up a subsidiary making domestic and industrial appliances?

ts25679

When will Sal realise that Shaper is the ideal weave implant? Body modification will let him side step Skill Paragons limitation, which is Sal's physiological compatibility. Also, when will he realise that since body modifiers are a thing, and you can assimilate stat's from essence, that he could essentially build a machine like the skill pods then direct the essence to build targeted stat's? I assume the higher level of stat's would require a monstrous amount of essence, but QA could establish a baseline for all students making it easier for their bodies to accept the skill implants. Sal has already built an essence amplifier once by accident, I'm sure he could do it again.

ts25679

If I were Sal I would be moving towards a cybernetic solution as well. The team are already out sourcing their "dantien" with things like capacitor, surely one must wonder if artificial gates could be a thing? What could a human mind achieve when it's supported by Prime and Codex? Can you imagine how devastating Sal's Silverson arts will be when it factors in Sal's ability to integrate other abilities into his style? Essence is essentially magic, and the weaves allow limited access and understanding of essence. With a broader and more complete understanding of essence and its programming Sal could become the world's first true mage

Cory Bassing

Oswald daughter is a second year support but not a crafter plus she super charges people. She doesn't know or owe anyone in the guild and her pops is a defense. If she is decent at administrative work Vanessa can train her up to keep Sal on track, she can bring him up a level with her power and her dad would probably train up the defense in the guild.

Joseph Kozachek

If Sal has to build a huge monster eating wall to protect his town will it produce things to eat so that the people have work to do processing and distributing?

Bryan Swanson

Love these chapters! Great set of openers and direction for book 7!

Asheron

And we are back! Something to look forward to on Monday's again

Chris Bagby

I’m getting a little nervous as most authors tend to place realizations into the story. My question to all your readers and you is! Who of our beloved Characters is doomed to die? You have slowly in previous books hint at the dangers Hero’s face. In the spider encounter hero’s does but none of our favorites. Villa even came close. So who do your readers believe will be the first to die?

Bob Bullock

during the text conversation with Petro, the messages between them are jumbled into a single paragraph. I suggest starting each exchange on a separate line. at least before sending it to publication.

Garrett

When Erika meets her full potential will she be a contender to deal with the Dragon? Especially if the Mythic Guild has max potential OP members with maxed out gear to bring that sack of crafting materials to its knees.

Kurby

Why is it that every book Erika sounds more and more like me?

ts25679

I hope Sophia finds an excuse to force herself out of the auction house and back into the story at some point. Seems a shame Petro's the only one getting to visit and be more hands on with the guild. Just need to think of a good narrative justification...

nin10do

lol i listerning to an unoffical audio of legion with all of brians chapter unedited in to one pdf and then lisern on text to speech - just so i have also preordered the audile version that hasnt been released whislt looking forward to the official release with the final copy of the audiobook and excellent narrators

Jack

I've been internally shipping Venessa and Upgrade more and more as the stories progress. I'm probably an army of one on that, but I proudly wave the flag anyway.

Spacewalker

I truly despise Erika. Maybe it’s a personal thing but she feels like a sociopath that everyone caters to. I’ve read through the books a few times and honestly don’t understand why everyone forgives her constantly. Gallant at least has his skill to blame for his insanity.

llluckyluke

Brilliant start - am thru chapter 12. LOVE that you are

Burt C

The secretary drone vs something like an ai agent - the agent can conversationally talk to Sal and commands can be vetted before going to Prime. While the command communication with computers has been a problem - it has now become less so - as AI technology grows....seems like something like that could be useful in this story....
