Wasn't the first Merab vs Yan fight in a smaller venue and cage? I feel like it was and it really screwed Yan. I do think people underestimate the damage and threat Merab poses on the feet. He hurt Cory, Sean, and Umar on the feet with his hands, and tore up Yan a bit with strikes in the clinch. On Cejudo, he was a great fighter who wasted a large part of his prime. The big knock on him was he never developed a submission threat. He has no great way of punishing grappling if he can't just hold a guy down or completely shut down any clinching/wrestling. It was remarkable how his striking developed and how he had varied tools. Walked down Marlon after having his legs chopped by boxing his way into the clinch, and then turned around and chopped down Cruz with low kicks.
