I mean c'mon, did we really think someone with Stephen Works ego was gonna really let a little thing like death stop him? 😅

With all these questions about digital existence, copies of human minds and such truly the main philosophical difference in perception is between the person being uploaded and the observer. It's hard to argue for the person being uploaded having a continuity of consciousness into becoming an ui but from the perspective of the uploaded ui and an outside observer that is entirely how it would seem. So in a way in the argument of "Is uploading death?" it's 2 vs 1 so with cold logic the majority view wins. What would muddle it more is if uploading didn't require the death of the person. Imagine interacting with your own ui. That would definitely change the conversation.

49:23 Akira reference?

Actually yeah, for all the talk of Evangelion, this is definitely influenced by Akira. So far it’s a three way tie between Evangelion, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell.
