Dear one,

I have been thinking about your letter.

There is no doubt the house is haunted. The kitchen shutters are screaming and the pipes in the walls are slamming opened and closed and plates are flinging the floorboards shifting, and you have never been so scared. There is no doubt the house is haunted, but there's a moment when you are so close to death that you can see clearly. And you can see that you're the one haunting the house. And you are deeply, deeply ashamed.

Please don't be.

It isn't your fault. Even if you know better. Even if you know you should be vacuuming and setting the table instead of smashing vases and filling the baby's bathwater with goat blood.

We are built to haunt, Dear One. There is no shame in that. The world needs haunting. Imagine a world without ghosts. Poltergeists. Witches and Werewolves. Lights in the swamp.

Imagine a world where the skulls don't talk.

I know you know better. I know it doesn't help.

I love you,

Joey

I love you too. Freely, not just in case.

i just wanted to say how much these letters you've been posting mean to me. i used to read asw regularly back in the day and got so much out of it. a couple years ago i got hit hard with what seems like similar stuff to what you're describing and it's so hard to understand yourself, much less relay it to someone else. these letters make me feel like i'm not the only one trying to work out how to deal with this thing that doesn't make any sense. it's good to find something to connect to when you don't feel connected to yourself at all sometimes. thank you for everything you've put out here for us over the years

In India, they talk about their saints as being the living dead, because they have died to who they thought they were. https://www.awakin.org/v2/read/view.php?tid=1041

Your words just feel like home.... Like an old friend you haven't seen in awhile shouting out a "Hallo!" Comfort in the discomfort. 💙💙💙
