Yes this video is an hour and a half, I may have rambled a lil I won't lie...

I’m just about to watch this, Harry and I love your ‘rambling’, so no apologies are necessary..❤️

Thanks for a great reaction, Harry. This episode has some beautiful moments between Wille and Simon, but I think it’s also an important one in terms of the pressures they’re each experiencing and how those are continuing to affect them as individuals and in their relationship. One of the most telling comments is when Simon says that singing isn’t as much fun any more. Even in season 2, when his song for the Jubilee was suppressed in favour of the traditional version, we saw him attributing it to the Royal Court not wanting him to be associated with Wille and they then argued about it in the music room. At that point, Simon says, ‘They’re taking away the one thing that I am good at and that I love’. Here, he’s literally losing his voice-we can’t pick out his voice in the Valborg capping out ceremony choir performance. Wille is under almost intolerable pressure from his family situation and his desire not to let his mother down and to live up to Erik’s legacy. I think there’s an increasing sense of a looming emotional explosion and now also a real threat of violence shown by the rock through Simon’s window at home. On the subject of the toxicity of the internet and social media, apparently Edvin is currently on the receiving end of a lot of hateful trolling, for his appearance, his friendships, his most recent film role because of the politics associated with it..you name it and he’s accused of it. Appalling that people feel entitled to post such comments and hound others like this. Edvin is very young, just turned 20 and has been candid in talking about his mental health issues in the past. Unlike Omar, who has had more experience of being in the public eye and all that brings with it, because of his years with a well known boy band in Sweden, well before Young Royals, Edvin is perhaps not as well used to dealing with it, either. Worrying stuff indeed.

About the Royal Court not stepping in to communicate with Simon and his family - I've seen people raise an interesting point about this. It seems plausible that Wille may not want them directly communicating with Simon. He knows better than anyone what it feels like to be controlled/suppressed by the Court and he's probably worried about Simon having to experience that and the possibility of losing him if that were to happen. In the first episode of this season, Farima tells Wille in the car that they are concerned that Simon won't understand that everything he does now reflects on them, and Wille assures her that he has it "under control", effectively saying he didn't want them stepping in. And we can see in the moments when he's had to call Simon to talk about one of his posts, he's trying to down-play it a bit from how I'm sure the Royal Court would want. Like after the video post when Simon says, "but I can post whatever I want, right?" From Wille's conversation with Farima, we all know their answer to that would be, well...no. But Wille says "of course you can, but..." On some level Wille maybe fears/knows that Simon wouldn't put up with all the crap expectations that comes with being part of the Royal family (which ironically is one of the things we know Wille loves about him) and so he's trying to keep Simon separate from it somewhat. And I think Farima saying "talk to him or we will" in this episode also seems to suggest that it's something Wille hasn't wanted to happen. We as outsiders can see how much pressure it's put on Wille to have to be in the middle, but from his perspective, it's probably his best chance at getting to be with Simon, which as he said, is all that he wants 🥺 All that being said - now that Simon's safety has been threatened, I do think this will change things!

Small note - Edvin actually is 21, but yes I agree with all this, Ruth! 😊

Harry, I get that you sometimes feel a bit like ‘I shouldn’t be watching this very intimate moment’, but I actually think it’s really important that we do see their passionate connection, especially in season 3, because it brings home that the problem isn’t them and the way they feel about each other, it’s external pressures bearing down on them.

Ruth May

Interesting. I agree with you about this, although I also think that it fits in nicely with the Royal Court’s view that everyone would be better off if this relationship ended, if this drove a wedge between Wille and Simon. Not so long ago, one of the questions Jan-Olaf asked August when he was screening him as Wille’s back-up was ‘And you’re heterosexual? ‘

scarr

Absolutely. I did love how Harry acknowledged the importance of the moment and talked about this at the end - that when it's just them together there's only love. But yeah I had to chuckle when he said "can we move on please?" Don't think I can EVER move on 🤯🥰

It’s such a beautiful scene, rivalled only by the fish scene in season 1, in my opinion. 🫠

In the first episode of this season, when Wilhelm and Farima are on the way to Hillerska, Wilhelm responds to Farima's concerns that Simon should be careful on social media: "Don't worry, I have it under control." That's why I think this is the main reason why the royal court doesn't interact directly with Simon - simply because Wilhelm thinks he can handle the situation better...

Damn, this is so very 'after the fact.' The discussion that Vincent and Nils were having about someone being an 8 or a 6? They were actually talking about the acting principal. So it's really even worse.
