Alice’s novella ‘This Winter’ on your shelf is a safe read now! It only covers Christmas day, so it was the basis for the first half of this episode.

What are your hopes for Tori going forward? Either what you wish to see for her or even just what you hope happens in the background?

it's worth pointing out that both eps 4 and 5 are semi-covered in solitaire and this winter - though i would probably wait until after the season is done to read solitaire (i have yet to finish the last two eps of this season so i am unsure how much is necessarily covered) - it was one of the storylines i and a lot of the fanbase was dreading being covered in the show bc of how painful it is. i think you have likely mentioned it at some point, but your opinion could have changed lol - i'm curious to know if there's a particular scene in these last two eps that has stuck out to you and been particularly heartbreaking? i personally view these two eps as a two parter bc they pretty much continue similar if not the same story threads so that's why i'm kinda combining them, aha.

Charlie

Thoughts on how Charlie’s parents handled the situation at Christmas with the extended relatives and their insensitive comments? Do you think they should have stepped in and said anything at any point when they realized Charlie was uncomfortable or getting triggered? What about the conversation between Charlie and Jane in the kitchen before he left? Was that the right time to point out that he didn’t eat all his dinner? As a parent myself with very difficult family members on both mine and my husband’s sides, I found myself thinking a lot about how I would have handled things differently if I were in Jane’s position and Charlie were one of my sons. Personally, I’d like to think I would stand up for them more, advocate for their mental well-being, and reinforce their boundaries. I would also probably allow them to step out and get space in their room or with their sibling, etc. so they could be away from the overbearing family members for a while. Jane’s comments in the kitchen when she said “I’m sorry I even tried” after arguing with Charlie about his eating felt particularly painful and selfish. I know it was likely an impulse response, and it’s made me think a lot about how many times I may have reacted that way to my own kids. I often wonder if I’m doomed to repeat the same mistakes as my parents did with me.

In season 3, episode 5 of 'Heartstopper,' how do the events and interactions between Nick and Charlie, as well as their friends, highlight the challenges and growth they face in their relationships? Additionally, how do these experiences contribute to their personal development and understanding of each other?

In season 3, episode 5 of 'Heartstopper,' how do the conversations and moments shared between Nick and Charlie during the winter season reveal deeper layers of their characters? How do these interactions influence their relationship and the way they navigate challenges together?

Frances

What kind of affect do you think did Charlie’s mental illness and treatment have on Nick during and after…?
