In case you didn’t discuss it yet, can you touch on Klaus refusing to give Elijah his memories back in order to protect him. Even though he’s so mad and needs his brother back Klaus is being selfless and wants to protect Elijah from the damage he knows it would do. He’s grown so much

How do you feel about Klaus’s mourning of Hayley? I’ve always had the deepest of bonds with their relationship: their growth from one night stand to begrudging co parents to friends to proper partners. I loved Haley and Elijah as a couple but on several rewatches I see that klaus and Hayley’s relationship had so much depth and beauty in it. He loved her in a very unique way: different than his love for Rebekah in the fact that he never thought Hayley couldn’t handle herself and never coddled her like he did our Bex. Different from his love for Cami, maybe even Caroline and different from his love for Hope and Marcel. His relationship with Hayley is one of a kind and on rewatch it hits seeing their progression knowing how he loses her and how he’s broken by it. His love for Hayley is complex: he loves her for literally giving his immortal life purpose by birthing Hope, he is indebted to her for basically being the sole stable parent figure in Hope’s life and for always defending him to Hope even though that mustn’t have been easy for Hayley with all the pressure she was under. He respects for being the fiercest mother to Hope and lives secure in the knowledge that if anything happened to him, Hope will never be unsafe if Hayley is alive. He trusts her indefinitely and bows down to her as a queen of the alphas. He sees her contribution and strength independent from her relationship to him through Hope. Ughhh I’m crying again from how much he has lost and how is having to cope.
