To finches grandfathers credit. We’ve seen since tvd that if your a werewolf your likely going to be hunted by hunters or vampires or both. And in the originals we see multiple examples that if u know the family names of werewolves they are easy to track down even if they haven’t triggered their curse. Having finch trigger it would at least give her a fighting chance against anyone who came for her without her knowing. Oh and triggered werewolves in human form are still stronger than the average human by a large margin

I would also have assumed that triggering the curse would make them more aggressive, but in the case of Mason and especially Tyler, it actually seemed to chill both of them out. Caroline even told Tyler after he became a hybrid that he was acting douchey again, like he did before he was a werewolf
